Nonie Gines
I have been raising goats for 3 years now and LOVE them all dearly! This is my third kidding season (Fall 2017). I raise traditional, Spotted and Dapple Boers. We are getting closer and closer to having an all-registered herd!!
We live at the base of The Windriver mountain range in Farson Wyoming. There is no place on earth like WYO!! But...It’s COLD here, often (7-9 months out of the year). Kidding in the “fall” is risky, but so is kidding in the spring if it’s a bad winter. Neither are optimal, but we make do with heat lamps, shelters and lots of TLC in those first 24-48 hours!
We also have 2 shorthorn heifers, and two horses. Our kids take 4-H and therefore we have steers in our pens a majority of the year as well.
I also work full time (from my home) for BP. It allows me to keep an eye on things here, and even take an hour “vacation” if I were to ever need it in order to attend to an emergency. It’s pretty awesome!
My husband and I have been together for 22 years, married for nearly 20. I am a mother of 3. My oldest daughter is nearly 20, my middle child (boy) is 17, and our youngest daughter (and fully planned) is 7 1/2! We are very busy between high school sports, college volleyball, and all the things elementary kids do as well! We love it all!!
