    Baby Rabbit Vanished!?!

I found it. It had teeth marks and was dead. It was wedged under her hay manger against the wall. The hutches I use for bred and nursing does and litters are untreated oak with three sides fully enclosed and baby saver wire on bottom and front, about twice the size of a standard x-large...

While I was out solving the mystery of the disappearing runt (the litters down to 11 kits), I took some pictures of the rest of their litter with their newly sprouted fur.

    Baby Rabbit Vanished!?!

Ok, my doe had 12 kits in her nestbox. One I was very concerned about because it was really runty was not there when I went out to check! Gone. Not a trace. Vanished. Did Wendy eat her baby?!? I've had does do that, but usually only moments after they are born... and usually you will find some...

    12 Beautiful Baby Bunnies!!!

My big Flemmish Giant doe, Wendy, gave birth to thirteen bunnies last night! Unfortunately, one of them was DOA, but still... that's 12 baby bunnies!!!! :weee:weee:weee The sire of the litter is a big broken red French Lop/New Zealand cross, so there is a whole rainbow of bunny cuteness in that...

I know quite a few years back my cousin had four REW Rex that she had integrated into her Pelfreeze herd of commercial NZs trying to improve fur quality... Perhaps she reserved some of their decendants when she sold out her big commercial herd. I'll have to ask her.

Ok, I was wrong about Hosta. Her sire was a White Flemish x NZ, so a REW. I suppose that explaind her enormous size. I'd never heard or read of Flemish or NZs hiding otter though. :hu

I made a lot of my guesses bases on that chart! A few of my guesses were probably off base because the chart does not have pictures. :\ They are producing a lot of meat! If I just keep practicing I may eventually get good at cooking it! My rabbit and dumplings and crockpot rabbit curry...

Thank you very much for your input, I greatly appreciate it! :) I could have sworn that Hosta was by my cousins broken black... I have the notes she gave me that have the bucks tattoo number, I'll call her tomorrow and and try to confirm who her sire was. I know the doe is her pedigreed blue...

REW NZ X Broken Blk NZ = What color is this thing?

Thanks for the info! Darn it! I had just read an article about how a Charlie would produce 100% broken kits when bred with a solid... The article didn't mention any of the bad stuff. I guess I'll have to rethink that wish. :barnie

REW NZ X Broken Blk NZ = What color is this thing?

Thank you for the information! I have a big broken red buck, I'm about to retire him because he's getting old and judging by his last two litters he's sired I think he's shooting lots of blanks. Maybe I'll try him out one more time on her and cross my fingers for a decent tri-colored Charlie...

    Cost effective pellet alternatives?

Right now I am feeding my rabbits MannaPro 18%, mixed Grass hay, and black oil sunflower seeds. This last spring and summer I fed lots of cut and carry grass and weeds as well. I also keep them supplied with willow and crabapple sticks. I am planning on building a fodder growing system in...
