ET (Edna Tabietha) is a week old today

Little Edna (whom we are calling ET for short) is a week old today. I weighed her and she has gained a whole pound in 1 week! I think she's eating really well, don't you? Sorry, the picture isn't the greatest, but it's really windy here today and it makes the cold cut right through you and...

    Article on goat abortions 2012/13

When I took our 2 baby goats to the vet last week he told me that the draught has caused lots of birthing problems with most large animals. That's what he caulked it up to. I'm sure the draught affects many things in ways we would never guess. Funny that he brought that up and now there is an...

Got a Foodsaver, you've got the makings of a goat milker!

Either way! Haha! I carry back and forth to the stanchion, because I do use it in the kitchen to seal canning jars with dry goods. Really only used it once to relieve her engorgement, but will be carrying it back and forth with the rest of my milking supplies.

    Ginger's kidding thread

Ginger and little Edna, whom we are now calling ET, because those were Edna's initials, are really doing well. Ginger is back to her usual self after the birthing and is doing a great job with little ET. Little ET has gotten lots more active and playful after her injection of selenium. Still...

2013 Kids on HIll Kidding Aunt B is in the kidding pen, April 7th.

Love to hear the stories of the goats. So don't feel badly about your post being long, because I really enjoyed it. Speaking for myself, I'm a goat lover and it's nice to be able to hear others' stories, because I know they may help me in the future with my goats. Peaches sounds like a great...

Got a Foodsaver, you've got the makings of a goat milker!

I've made my own goat milker out of the attachment port and tube from my Foodsaver for less than $6! It works really well. It has a very low suction rate, so not really a worry about too much for a goat. Ginger had an engorged udder from losing 1 baby and the other baby only nurses on 1 side...

    Ginger's kidding thread

Thanks for the wonderful comments everyone. Everyone at this forum is so special to me. To make us feel better brought the youngest granddaughter Sarah over (13), who was also grieving at the future loss of a friend moving away at the end of the school year. She hadn't see the babies yet, so...
