Wool loss - easy to pull out - on an injured sheep

Well, thanks for the advice everyone. The sad news is, we're putting the sheep down today. Most of her wounds were healing great, but I guess one spread under the wool where I couldn't see it. It is very infected, and we got some advice from a friend who has owned sheep for years, who told us...

Wool loss - easy to pull out - on an injured sheep

I'm pretty sure the ligaments are okay - the ligament was exposed, but was still there and didn't seem torn. I turned off the heat lamp - maybe I'll let her go tonight without it. That's a great idea - making straps attached to the ceiling. I know, and I've considered many times putting...

Wool loss - easy to pull out - on an injured sheep

Hi everyone. I have a 1 year old Merino that was bit by a dog on Christmas eve. We've been treating her since then, keeping the wound on the back of her legs/rump clean, and we gave her a tetanus shots, as well as two days of penicillin. The first few days of the wound, we weren't sure she'd...

Pgymy Goat purposefully getting her head stuck?

Hi everyone, So we've had a couple pygmy goats for a year now. We had put up wire fencing that has larger holes near the top, shrinking down to smaller ones near the bottom. For most of this year, this was no problem - the goats would sometimes stick their heads through the top holes, but...

    Noisy goats

My pygmys are also incredibly noisy -- usually when they see us come up the driveway in the car, or actually anytime we step outside and they "see" us. They MAAAAAAAAAAHHH for attention in the most ridiculous way. Especially the 8 month-old - she screams like she's being murdered. Usually...

Goat Rolling her neck around - just playing?

Awesome, thanks guys. I feel better. It is pretty amusing to see, now that I know it's not a sign of a disease. She is such a weirdo! Boots (the mom) is a very stern and mellow goat, but Chaos is...chaotic. She runs and leaps and twists and likes to chase the cats and tries to climb on my...

Goat Rolling her neck around - just playing?

I have a 6 month old baby who seems healthy in every way. She has plenty of energy, eats just fine, and is obnoxiously loud when she wants attention. Her and her mother are the first goats I've ever had, so I'm brand new at all of this. The only thing mildly concerning me right now is a...

    correcting bad behavior

As for treats, my goats LOVE graham crackers. I know that's not necessarily healthy... but they are perfect for when I need to get them to do something, or as a reward. I can hold out a graham cracker and they'll practically knock me over trying to get it!
