I do have a mineral block out there for them, specifically for goats, is there anything else they might need? I saw a post about baking soda but didn't see what the reason was.
As far as hay goes, how much should I expect to feed per day for two goats this winter? Can I give too much?
I have one pygmy goat wether and a young boer cross doeling who is about three months old. They are just spoiled pets. They have plenty of grass and brush to eat. I feed them a little goat chow every day, but not much, and they occasionally get treats from us. I haven't fed any hay this...
LOL, I meant dehorned, guess I just had polled in my head still, haha! Under her tail its pink with black splotches, I only noticed that because I thought the spots were kind of funny.
Well, we only gave $50 for her, and she's just a pet anyway, so I'm not too torn up if she's not full...
Thank you all for your help! I just inspected her little head and it does sort of look swirly, so I guess she is polled! So y'all think she's mixed, huh? The guy said she was 100%, even showed me mom and dad. But that's not to say he wasn't fibbing, lol!
Just picked up a little boer doeling off of CL. The guy I got him from didn't know much about them. Lucy doesn't have horns, but I'm sort of new to goats, so I was wondering if that means she is polled and will not have horns, or have they just not grown in yet? My little pygmy fella had his...
Thanks for the reply, a bump always helps haha.
No, I've not seen anything that really concerns me, it just seems like a long time for this to be going on!
About two months ago, my DH suprised me by bringing home two pygmy goats. We've never had goats and have just been delighted by these little dudes. They are little bucks, so they were banded before they left the farm they came from. From what I can remember we got them June 18th, so not far...
I acquired two pygmy goats about three weeks ago, that are about 3-4 months old. We were told by the folks we got them from that they had been dewormed, but after further questioning I began to wonder if this was true (they had no idea when, or with what, so I'm thinking they just "said" they...
Thanks y'all!
We are enjoying them so much already. I bounced out of bed this morning before the roosters! They are just too adorable. They're quiet, I expected more noise from them, is this normal?
I just wanted to add my two cents. You said he hadn't been gelded "yet" since he hadn't dropped...which makes me think you want to geld him eventually.
My two cents is this: I worked for a large animal practice for many years, and if you wanted to geld him and he never drops, the surgery...
Hi everyone, this is my first post although I'm a crazy BYC fan and post there all the time. I just wanted to show off my new babies I got yesterday. This is our first time with goats and we have a lot to learn, so I was so excited to find BYH!! BYC was our saving grace when we decided to get...
