Sorry, sometimes I get confused with the English/Spanish words. Yes I was talking about the ultrasound machine. I will have to look into getting a marking harness and matingmark crayons the next time I am in the States. Here they don't use them and I don't trust the mailing system.
We bought...
If she is pregnant I don't think she is ready to lamb any time soon. With her last pregnancy (which was her first) she started to bag up slowly around 4 months and her vulva was swollen around the same time. Neither of those are happening yet so if she is pregnant I would guess anywhere from 1...
Thank you @mysunwolf , that sounds about right. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. We actually have the ram tied up now because he can be aggressive at times. Do you think the ewe is smart enough to keep her distance? :fl I am hoping the damage or bleeding will heal on it's own with...
Thank you @chickens really for those suggestions, I will have to do some research on those two things. She constantly is with a male 24/7 but if they recently mated I am not sure.
Thank you @Beekissed and @purplequeenvt for replying to my concern. I don't think she is pregnant either but I can't think of any other reasons why her vulva would have dried blood like that. 🤔 I guess time will tell if she is pregnant or not, I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out to be something...
This ewe has been with a ram since January. I've been waiting to see signs of a pregnancy but nothing so far. Then yesterday I see some dried blood on her vulva. Again today I see a little bit but nothing major. She is eating and acting normal. Could this be a sign of a miscarriage?
I just had five hens hatch their chicks. I guess that's a bonus for living on the equator, same temp all year long. I'll take a broody hen any day. :highfive:
From the day she was born all my neighbors would say was, "Look at those long legs! She's going to be big." I'm just glad she is healthy. And as far as being slimmer, must be the camera. :love
Thank you @Baymule !
Left: parents at three months Right: baby at three months
We bought the parents from an animal market. This just really shows how much love, attention, the right type of care and advice from BYH can make a world of difference. The baby is more than double the size her parents were at the...
So I am trying to think ahead a little bit and doing a lot of reading. I didn't want to make a new thread about weaning and breeding since I'm dealing with the same sheep family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I see that the general consensus for weaning is 60 days or a lamb that is...
I wish I could upload a video here so you can see how cute she is. Maybe if I link the video you can watch it that way. You can never see too many videos of bleating lambs. :)
@mysunwolf
Thank you for your response. I have noticed that Esther is more anxious for feed and since she is in the last few weeks of pregnancy I have up'ed her intake but just by a little. A little more grain a little more alfalfa and a little more carrots (one of her favorites). We have been...
@Sheepshape
I have another concern today. I have noticed that over the past three days Esther's poo has become mushy and soft and a lighter brown color. Is this normal in pregnant ewes?
I wish I lived on a farm @Baymule! All we have is about 500 square meters with a house. Just enough space for us and some animals. We have two dogs, 20 chickens and counting and two sheep, that's it. We used to have two ducks but I've decided that they are too messy to keep around. Before the...
