Today is the pups second vet visit for their first shot. They have been spending most of their time with the goats now, though they can go back into the nursery if they want to and that is where I feed them. Yesterday, I watched as Ammy bounced past my doe Lily and I knew what was going to...
The pasture fence is going up! We have three sections to it for does, bucks, and then a working area in case we need to separate some for whatever reason. I am so excited to let the animals have more room to run, play, and eat. The wood posts are all in the ground and today we will cement...
She is a really good girl. I did separate them though. Baby nurses way to hard anyway and Olive has her paws full with 7. We moved baby goat in with a few other baby goats and she is happy as could be.
Olive is starting to wean pups. She is not wanting to lay down for them anymore, is...
Olive is a good momma, which was clear from the start. Well, cute little story for you.
We had a doe kid, first time mom, and NOT a good one. I wrote last month about having to save her kids from near death after she left them in the cold. Afterwards, we put them back with their mom and...
I like my NDs best for their personality and size. Weight-wise, they are going to be similar to a pygmy but are more trim in appearance. My pygmy is lazier and more chilled out which is nice too but I do love to watch the bouncy antics of the NDs.
They do have a significantly higher fat...
Most places are selenium deficient and even in those that are not, other things can contribute to absorption. I would use on that had it if you can't get ones meant for goats. Take a pic of the content label and compare it to that of say Sweetlix or another goat mineral.
Iodine--don't buy it...
Somewhat right :) He is not as calm as a few, but more chill than his sister. He was the first pup to actually stand up and walk around, and crawled all over his momma.
Pups are growing like weeds! It is starting to become apparent they each have their own little personality, and telling them apart is getting easier.
Moxy is the first one to make a move, leaving the group to charge across the pen to bark at whoever comes in the door, and the little stinker...
I am not sure on this one but at only 3 weeks old, I would think it unlikely to be a CL lump. Not saying it isn't possible because I just don't know that, but I would suspect something else first. Use gloves. Do check inside his cheek and look for lumps elsewhere too.
I am waiting for my vet to call back. He was in surgery so it might be awhile. Pumpkin has mastitis. It is a little strange though. She kidded back in October, we sold one kid on a bottle and retained the other so we bottle fed her too and milked Pumpkin for awhile but decided to dry her off...
Wicked weather here. I was so excited to get started on my dozens of outdoor projects now that the house is done but it seems we will have to wait a bit more. Last weekend was wonderful, getting up to 50 degrees and the kids and I almost knocked out one project: getting a dry river bed built...
Brunello. Not good shots and these are from January. He is so handsome. And his winter coat has these white whorls in it that were not there in the spring. I will get better ones once it warms up again.
I am so sorry OFA. He was such a handsome, strong looking buck. Thank you also for sharing with us. I have never done round bales but we were talking about it for the fall. I would never have thought it could be a hazard.
