    Alaskan's Journal

I am so glad you said that about the Parsnip plant, wow. Just told my husband about it and was in shock that it can burn you like that. I've heard a lot about the volcanic activity, but I saw that about the Anchorage one. I think it was a video inside of a shop, wow

    Coffee anyone ?

Too much caffeine as a kid and teen so coffee basically helps keep a headache away and sort of a sentimental way to start the day too. Can’t wait for some campfire percolator coffee soon

    Coffee anyone ?

Morning all, late start on the coffee for me but it will be brewed nonetheless. How many of you drink coffee literally every single morning like us? Hoping today we can get some work done outside, and need to start planning some craft projects too. I get to try my hand at baking my very first...

Getting Started - Plans for Cattle in 2022 - Questions

@Alaskan - Thank you for the input! This will be a huge factor for me, selecting from a herd that not only is healthy and well kept by a caring farm/individual, but selecting from stock that is well-minded.

Getting Started - Plans for Cattle in 2022 - Questions

I have done research online in the past, for a few years actually, as well as ordered an old used copy of the Oxen book by mister Drew Conroy which has not yet made it here but will be my first go-to reading source in regards to training. He luckily is still training to this day, so I would hope...

    Overwhelmed

It is very easy to get overwhelmed and burnt out, especially when things seem to just darn not go as planned. And having this move with not everything ready for so many animals, it is alot. Don't get frustrated with them, as especially if they haved moved from where they were raised or used to...

Getting Started - Plans for Cattle in 2022 - Questions

So I have not been terribly active here as of late, my apologies. But our plans are set to get a set of calves next year to raise and train as working oxen. Our hearts are set on Herefords for our pair. 2022 is our goal to get ready for our pair. As this will be the first time we've had cattle...

@Chickenlover0810 - not a pig farmer/raiser myself, but if in doubt perhaps you all should give the vet a ring to be safe.

    Sheep scared of own family?!

@loveanimals - If this little one has been raised solely bottle by humans and has not been exposed to other sheep, it's going to be an integration process! Even if they are related, being with adults can be scary! Try slow exposure - supervised little visits together, or perhaps fenced near one...
