@Baymule - I don't have the resources yet to tan cows :( They're so gigantic and heavy to work, and I don't have enough space to plump and shave them for a proper tanning sadly. (I don't think I will be able to even tan deer this year as the old workshop that's been in the family was hit by a...
@capeme - A big welcome to BYH! So glad to have you, and it's good to know you are doing your homework.
I hope some of our wonderful goat-raising community will chime in and give some suggestions.
So we're looking into rabbits again, and I want to do more research into the breeds and particularly their temperament.
In the past, we've had New Zealand Whites in the past and did not have the best experience with them, and a mixed Lionhead who was alright but still not the best pal. Our...
@MiniGoatsRule - I know there is debate over different trainers, but I am more familiar with Monty's work over anyone. Can't believe he's in his 80s still going over to visit the Queen's stables and work with a handful of her horses.
Can also say that Etsy does work as a great marketing tool and it seems confusing, but I am very glad we signed up. I am able to let my items sit and sell there instead of traveling to trade shows.

A big welcome as you join us over at BYH too! Don't forget to check our Sufficient Self and The Easy Garden as well. We can't wait to hear all about your journey with goats! The people here sure are smart and helpful - when we had a goat with some severe issues, they called it and I was able to...
Depending on how close you are to others, be careful of others trapping your cats. I rehabbed a feral years ago and he was the biggest lovebug and a great pest controller (he had his ear tipped to mark he was a controlled colony cat once, most shelters know what the tip means by now I believe)...
May not help but I like to get my black rubber work mucks at Tractor Supply. Simple and affordable and usually last me a good while before failing/puncture. Just gifted a pair of RedHead boots for Christmas and the whole toe split off already.
So, I am not a goat expert, and I have only had a few over the years. But someone please tell me in your opinion, am I wrong in thinking this goat is in rough shape (to say it lightly) and probably not 2 years old? I can't believe these people asking $150 or trade...thumbnail (click to enlarge)....
Glad to be stuck here @Baymule - I always feel welcome on BYH of all the sister sites. :D =D
@Jesusfreak101 - love the coin purse! Rabbit is so dang thin to work with that it's really hard to not tear. I've got a wild rabbit from last year I tanned to go on the wall in the cabin and it ripped...
Thank you everyone. This has definitely become a place to, if nothing else, look back on how we've got along over the past years and see out adventures. Thank you again for the kind words, all of you.
Been a good long while since I've updated here - it's sad, but we don't have herd animals anymore so in a way I almost feel like this journal just doesn't fit anymore. We've got three chickens and two ducks, along with our dogs. But things are well and can't complain to be living the good life...
How's it been @Alaskan? Enjoyed seeing your photos of the country around there and was actually coming back to the thread to show my husband some of the beautiful photos of the churches you have up there. Hope all is well from the other end of the nation down in AL.
