Good point. Thanks!
So, kind of an off topic question, but I figured since we were talking about stuff to put in Casper a grain, are there any hair growth supplements for horses? When Casper got colic a month back, the vet shaved a spot on his side so he could get some IV fluids in there, and...
Howdy!
I have 2 pet mini goats. They get into a lot of trouble. Their new favorite is tipping over the chicken scratch barrel.
Does anybody have any good enrichment ideas for goats?
Go to your shelter and find a little rescue. That's what I'm doing! Plus, rabbits are the third most abandoned and euthanized animals in shelters around the entire planet.
Rabbit breeds hardly affect their mentality/personality at all.
For example, Holland Lops are supposed to be sweet, social...
For Christmas I am building my Pygmy wether and Nigerian doe a bunch of little ledges on the wall, as well as some nice bigger platforms. They love climbing!
Also try a balance beam, they love those!
If possible, put a feeder up on the climbing structure so they have to work for feed/treats...
He'll eat them.
He eats about anything (he's just not a huge grain fan, that's part of why I wanted to add some banana), his favorite is Flamin' Hot Lime Cheetoh's...
Sorry, @Kusanar beat me to benefits of banana.
Thanks! That's the EXACT article I read!
Is there anything else I could add...
Hey y'all, me...
Again...
What's this, the... number 20something MiniGoatsRule threat?
ANYWAY, I heard banana is great for horses, and I wanted to mix a little bit of banana with my horse's grain every day.
But, about 3 or 4 weeks ago, he got colic real badly. He's doing good now, I'd say...
Hey y'all, it's me again. I've got a question for any chinchilla owners out there.
So, I have a little chinchilla, about 5-7-ish years old, I wanna say, his name is Pedro.
Yes, I know, I need to clean his cage.
Anyway, I'm gonna build a bigger cage for him, and I want to adopt him a buddy...
I'd get Nigerians if I was you. I have one with a pygmy goat, both as pets. Here's a list of reasons why I would:
1. I'm not sure how they are for milk, since we dried ours (we wouldn't be able to milk her whenever we needed to), but my cousin (her old owner) said that they are a great milk...
OKAY! Answers are no longer accepted this month.
Everybody had a different answer, so there was no winning answer. I will post next month's question on Saturday. Post some ideas on what next month's poll should be!
So, answers weren't still being accepted yesterday, @HomesteaderWife, but since not many people posted on here, and since I forgot to mention that answers aren't accepted anymore, I'll count your post.
Also, I'm surprised you know about Monty Roberts! I don't know many people who do.
Hey there everyone, it's me again, back with another problem because I have too many of them...:hit
So, I've been trying to figure this one out for a good while now.
I am going to start giving my goats a bit of grain every night to hide in some supplements, but I still haven't figured out...
Hey, is anybody on BYH from Northwestern Wyoming, Eastern Idaho, or Western Montana? I need some help with my pet rabbit. I need a good vet in one of those areas that can spay her, and preferably one that isn't over $200.
Hey guys, bad news.
I lost my phone and have no other device for pictures. I was gonna get the calf pics but...
SO sorry, and if there is anything I could do for you to make it up to you as a BYH user, please say so!
Also, I don't really know how to create a real poll on BYH so I will stick with the question post and answer posts. On the 5th to last day of every month, no more answers will be accepted and I will count up answers and write down what answer won (or how many ties I got).
Hey everybody, I'm going to start a new thing where every month I will post a new random poll. This month's thread will be:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FAMOUS BARNYARD ANIMAL?
Ex. My favorite famous barnyard animal is Norman the calf from the movie City Slickers.
If you get confused with the...
Hey there, yours truly again.
Good lord, I sound like some medieval messenger/hipster.
ANYWAY, I plan to soon build a mineral/baking soda feeder for my goats. Wait, it's baking soda that I need to free-feed them on, right? Or is it baking powder? I can't remember to save a life... Crap memory...
Okay. If you would like a milk/pet breed, I have it narrowed down to 4 breeds: Nigerian Dwarf goats, Alpine goats, Nubian goats, and LaMancha goats. I'd recommend the Nigerian Dwarf, due to their spunky attitude, fast learning, and their ability to quickly include others into their herd. My...
