Peanut is in the kidding stall! Her ligs are gone and her udder is huge. Today is only day 142 but she looks ready.
Ruth’s ligs are starting to drink, I’m thibking maybe tomorrow for her?
So excited!
I’m so glad you got some does! I still can’t believe you got all bucks last year! That was just crazy!
I put Ruth in a stall, but her ligs are firm. She’s eating away (she’s never NOT hungry!)
Hopefully in the next few days!
It's so cool that your brother is checking on her while you are at work!
She needs to get on with it! Ruth is on day 145 today :)
It'll be interesting to see what colors Cami's kids will be! She's buckskin and Charlie is gold, but both of his sisters are buckskin. Hoping for some more does!
Congratulations on the munchkins! They are adorable!
Loved all the pics!
I’m a little (lot) jealous of the skid steer! We looked at renting one, so expensive!!!!
Looks like we’ll be having to muck the barn by hand. Not something I can think about right now!
Now, aren’t those two little...
Sorry just saw this. You can get it online if through most feedstores. I use the 1% Ivermectin cattle/pig injectable, given orally.
Most deworms have a milk withdrawal. Some only a few days others substantially longer. These two have a short withdrawal.
We use lamps with most our kids at night (newborns)
Dam raised kids are completely different than bottle raised kids. Bottle raised kids don’t have a dam to nurse through the night. The dam will also snuggle with her kids and we’ve even had dams make “nests”for the kids to cuddle in. Bottle...
That's what it sounds like.
We had that happen. My doe Red Hot was disbudded along with her brother. The sire was horned (disbudded) dam was polled. Both kids had massive nubs and were disbudded. Both kids ended up producing polled offspring :th
Polled genetics are such a pain!
You are not being an overprotective momma! You are doing a great job and she'd be dead without you!
If she is really a cross between those two breeds, she is pretty darn small but honestly she is alive, so I wouldn't worry too much.
I'd start at 4-6 oz every 4 hours and go from there. She'll...
What breed? How much does she weigh? Is she finishing the bottle with vigor or is she really full/slow after eating?
You could cut the milk back some and see how she’s doing. Each kid is a little different as to how much they can take down, especially in the first week of life.
Really really...
Yep! Mel was "Orange Collar".
Blue was "blue collar" and Simba (at a local farm here in NC) was "green collar". All the pups were really nice dogs, but these three were SBC's favorites.
Sounds like the abrupt change from momma's milk to replacer is what is causing the scours.
How much are you giving? How is she acting? What replacer? I really hate replacers. My goats have never thrived on it, but you did what you had to do. In the future I'd just put them on whole cows milk...
