We dosed my goat for lung worm with ivermectin 5 days ago and he still has a cough tough it is not as bad as it was. Should I dose him again with the same stuff, use something different or wait? He is a pigmy nigerian dwarf cross and is one year old. The weather here is dry and hot. Thank you...
Sorry about the wait. Our internet is up and running! And all of the babies are doing great and the mama too! Thanks for the info, support and prayers guys! Me and the misses being nerds have given them borg designations(star trek reference). 1 of 3, 2 of 3, and 3 of 3. In ascending order on how...
Thanks! That's reassuring. I just went to check and the second baby, the one who hadn't pooped yet, had a nice yellow, solid poop in her sleep. Treating mom for ketosis, I think that might be why she was trying to "isolate" by staying away from the babies. She's doing good and still letting them...
At first the smallest one had runny, dark poop, not the yellowish I have seen in previous kids. It was very sticky and she strained to pass it. She's passed this kind of poop about 6 times today. Hers has since become a combination of firmer yellow and runny, sticky and dark. She was sickly and...
Okay so I posted this thread last night before our ND doe went into labor on her own and she had an easy delivery of three very large babies: http://www.backyardherds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=25830
All three babies got colostrum. The smallest of the three had some diarrhea, I gave...
Starting at 2:30 this morning she popped out 3 babies! Here is a little narrative that I posted for my Facebook friends and thought you might enjoy it too. Thanks very much for the advice and concern, all three babies AND mom (whose name is Neegra) are doing really good!
"Neegra and three...
OMG I just went out to say goodnight to her and saw a really real contraction! She pooped, peed, took a few steps and squated with a bleat and her vulva contracted. YAY! Please cross your fingers that things go smoothly, we love her very much and can't wait to meet her babies!
Thank you again, I really appreciate your responses! I have read up on what to do with abnormal positions so I am not too concerned about being able to make the necessary adjustments, my hand should fit inside her no problem but of course I'd rather not go deeper in if I don't have to and expose...
Thank you, Bonbean. We are certain of the date as she only had a few hours with her stud though we did not observe the moment in question, she obviously concieved at that time. We have no bucks and no bucks have acess to her with the exception of that arranged stud visitation. I will go in and...
Since I posted this, she has safely delivered three gorgeous kids!
She is 146 days along, we know the exact date she bred. Since April 1st she has been appearing to have mild contractions on and off for a few hours, and then stops, starts the process again in a few days. She lost some white...
Thanks guys for the input! In my planing on the angora I failed to consider the heat here in Northern Ca. It can get in triple digits in my area during the summer and may not be the best choice. Which is sad really I was looking forward to the wool as well. :( Maybe next year if I can figure out...
Thanks for the info! I want to do the French Angora, but I have not found any locally yet. The only ones I have found are Jersey woolys. Being as small as they are I do not know how much wool or meat they will produce.
I am new to raising rabbits and I would like a dual purpose rabbit. Meat for me and fiber for the wife. So the question is what if any Angora would make a good choice?
