Alright y’all, I want your opinion if this is fowl pox or not. I’ve never dealt with pox before so I’m not sure. I haven’t added birds to my flock for seven months, and they came from a clean/closed flock. But we do have a ton of mosquitoes and neighbors with birds. I did notice this lady was a...
I’m afraid you asked for this one lol.
Sebright, silkie, bantam mixes, Easter egger(One old roo and I finally got a hen) Brahma, harlequin, sexlinks, Americana or barred rock(I can’t tell the difference), buff Orpington, and then I have one that I don’t know the breed of but he’s over my knee in...
I’ve been doing research, a lot of it. And more questions! One, if I manage to have a bottle baby about how many bags of formula do they go through before they are weaned?
Two, what fly spray do you use to repel fly strike? I already use diatomaceous earth on everything I have, but is there...
You could also give him something else to beat up that won’t hurt him. My billy despised anything orange and would end up with the offensive object proudly creamed on his head. Maybe a pumpkin or something that he can destroy that won’t destroy him..
I asked to see if he was a sales barn baby or something like that. His bro is beautiful btw. I am really wary about milk for adult goats, especially with the lactose. But it doesn’t seem like that’s your problem. Sweet feed should be fine if that’s what he’s used to, but no new grains. I’m sorry...
He actually doesn’t look too awful skinny. That is good. When I first read your post I thought you said you were giving him vit d everyday. I’m not 100% sure about calf milk replacer, who told you to give that to him? His head looks pretty good to me, and good job having him seperated!
Not to overwhelm you, but stop giving him vitamins or anything like that. Use a little bit of corn syrup or molasses in water every few hours to keep sugar up, but no more special stuff. If he wants hay I’d let him have that too, but I’d be careful about grain.
If you want to get him on his feet make a sling and possibly a pulley system if possible. When I’ve had a Pygmy go down I use my shirt and just pull them up, but it sounds like he’s too big. Use a animal towel or even a tarp, something sturdy. Rock him on one side and then the other so you can...
Could he be over vitaminated? Did he get tetanus? Any eye ticking? Pain? Muscle stiffness? Can you post pictures, I want to see his head composition. Did he get debudded? Does he have access to moldy food or lead? I would definitely be worried about vitamin over dose. Literally any signs from...
I know my state laws suck because I looked them up lol. I guess they do! But I do have one house rabbit, two hypoallergenic dogs, a bird, and a lizard that all live inside. And I wouldn’t put it past me to have a baby/sickly farm animal in the house somewhere. We don’t have a barn so if someone...
Hello and welcome! We started with chickens and goats at the same time. Ducks came much later because I’d heard they were difficult. Turns out ducks are my favorite! I personally have a huge preference for Great Pyrenees dogs. My grandparents breed and raise them and I have memories of riding...
Today I am putting duck eggs in... yay. Ducks are probably one of my favorite barnyard creatures so I'm looking forward to hatching some.
I also discovered "cottage" laws or lack thereof. Meaning I can't sell baked goods without a kitchen inspection and sending samples in to a lab. *Big eye...
I’ve heard of rats, but never had any. As far as mice, I have corn fields across the street and animals behind me so they are plentiful. That being said, not too much of a problem. The wild birds only come at migrating time, right now lol. But they don’t tend to take too much. They have...
I notice that my ducks eat and sleep extra for a good few days to bulk up fat right before it gets cold. I’m personally a free feed fanatic. I think animals know what they need in general and I tend to have healthy ones. Because I have goats that are obsessed with the bird grain my chickens and...
Could you try moving a little bit to a different area? I’ve never had piggies, but that works with most animals who select their “spot” hopefully someone else who knows responds!
 I am now thinking about that movie too! I breed both, chickens and bugs. I meant bearded dragon, it’s a type of lizard. So I have a cocooned horn worm(I hate them in the garden but they are great feeder bugs if contained) which means whenever it hatches I should get a ton of eggs from it...
Whoops lol. I’m in hurricane central. Even though we have been blessed to not have been severely affected this year. We have similar climates I believe! Definitely not up north like NY, no thanks to all that snow!
I actually am working on breeding my own bugs already! My dragon eats mealworms...
