    Moving checklist.

We’d be moving from NC to Midwest. I have been reading your journal, and getting exhausted just from reading! Part of the problem is we’d have to do it all in one go, driving back and forth wouldn’t be an option.

    Moving checklist.

Well y’all, I’ve seen so many people moving I wanted to jump in the boat. Actually not exactly. My family has been thinking of moving for a while so some of my family members could breath better. Which means there is a ton of stuff to consider and work out and straighten. Maybe not for years...

    Messybun’s fence problems.

As far as goat club, I do tell way too many people I meet everything about my goats. Whoops lol, that’s why I have to be on here.

    Messybun’s fence problems.

Thank you, I did discover cattle panels and put it over the bad spots. Also had someone help me stretch the fence, the back corner where they escaped couldn’t get a truck through to pull for me. I’ve actually had goats for around eight years now, so yep plan to stay in the club.

    Goat Injury

That totally makes sense. Good on the eyes.

    Goat Injury

Blue-kote the areas not around her eyes. You can use triple antibiotic on her eyelid if it’s really bad or colloidal silver (eye safe antibiotic). Goats are social, did they just not want to be separated? Is there a reason you separated them?

Urgent need for small farm to board my sheep and goats

Call local stables, they’ll likely be able to get you on the right trail. Remember to talk to people too, ask about reputations. You can also put up a flyer at feed stores or call farm sitters. As a farm sitter they’ll probably know people who have farms and/or board animals.

    Coffee anyone ?

Can you farmsit in exchange for meat? It might give you some of the animal benefit and a little bit of change in your pocket.

    Emergency Advice?

Can you rope her and drag her into the barn. Maybe make her a small pen in the barn? I would probably use fence panels. Worm her and feed her extra grain. When I’ve had thin animals (goats) I would mix sweet feed and peanuts and pumpkin seeds, if I had them. It really helps fatten them up. I...

Help! Baby goat won't take bottle

Sounds like you have some pretty decent shelters. Is she still not taking the bottle or mom if you tried that?

Help! Baby goat won't take bottle

Take a deep breath. For the other goats get small pens or a good place prepared if they do drop babies. Maybe a little extra grain. It sounds like it’s cold out there, be prepared to dry off babies if a mom is inexperienced. You want her to lick them some to bond but you can help dry off the...

    Coffee anyone ?

It was 70 yesterday. It was 61 this morning. Then all of the sudden a big storm blew through and in the five minutes I was outside it dropped so fast I started to see my breath. Hello winter! Brr.

    Messybun’s fence problems.

Currently we have taken cattle panels (only took 2) and covered the bad spots and barb wired other places. It has been working. Slowly I’m replacing the electric rope with barbed wire. I also got someone to help we stretch and re tie the fence. Having a large man vs. small me tightening the...

    Disaster checks

Okay, thought of something else. Have every family member get a 3x5 card or piece of paper with their emergency list on it. For my family it goes kinda like this: I get my and bro’s clothes and the animals. Mom gets paper work and documents. Dad takes down shelters that won’t last the storm. I...

    Messybun’s Small starts big dreams

Duck is doing well, but but he’s being more careful when he eats. Instead of opening up and just plowing the feed he’s eating like a normal duck mouthful by mouthful. We’ll see. The cat got her first mouse. I ended up killing it tossing it to the chickens because she had started to play with it...

    Messybun’s Small starts big dreams

Got him! I don’t even know where the plastic netting came from. It’s like a piece of the yellow stuff turkeys come in from the store. Got it clipped off his bottom bill and out of his mouth. It was stopping him from eating well, and would have kept constricting if left alone. Sprayed with some...
