Everyone is fine and happy, though I am having a bugger of a time selling any males. :( Super bummed, I thought the colors with the good genetics and udders behind them would move them. To date I haven't sold a single one! :(
I agree about the selling one to pay for one, though we didn't do that. We are just a month away from processing ours and he just weighed in at 270 pounds. :ep So no trouble growing on his own!
We've been farming for about 4 years now struggling with how to make money from it. Feed costs are just so high here the market won't support what it costs me to raise the animals let alone with any profit.
Anyone have any advise? Tips tricks hints etc?
Thank you!
My pair is about 2 months apart in age and the best thing I ever did for my farm. Much more like "pets" (albeit working pets) than I had read. Southern is spot on though, she knows her stuff!
We had puppies!!!! Mamma healthy & 9 healthy FAT babies! 7 girls 2 boys. =D All the same color as Toli except two have black spots instead of the brown. =D One looks like a cow, lol.
Good to know! I just had three Nubian babies born that were on their sides with full bellies for most of a day. I will make sure not to let that happen again!!!
So my does apparently settled on the first breeding, (not the second breeding a week later), so the babies came a week "early"! And, the count is up to TEN, from only 3 does!

Thank you guys! Yes, I am hoping I will be able to sell the flashy boys and will probably end up processing the brown ones. :) I have to update my journal now and get lots of new pics! :D

Anywho, the first goat kidded with trips, completely normal and fine. But the second doe kidded with trips and they are very weak. They can barely lift their heads and can't...
Have you looked around for any signs of other kids or placenta... She shouldn't have gone down in size significantly from something that was the size of your fist...
