Good evening everyone:frow It's been a good afternoon. Hit a milestone with my dog, Heidi. For ages, I have been teaching and correcting her horrible habit of chasing chicks, chickens, ducks and almost killing them. A few months back she almost bit my Ancona roosters head off, as well as my...

    Is she preggo?

Well, my little bubba had her first heat a couple of weeks ago. I really really don’t want to get into the details about how she come about to the possibility of being pregnant. Long story short, somehow she got out one night with my full male dog. I asked this on BYC, and aside from the...

    What is this guy?

Agree with @wishing4wings definitely a cockerel. As for the breed, I'm thinking it might be a silkie cross or a Bantam Cochin crossed with a silkie or something. Not too sure.

I might give it a shot then. If the 8-week olds stop acting bratty towards them. They are just so small that they can fit through the chicken wire, they better start growing soon.

Well, that's good to know! I'm worried about the Frizzles and Silkies, they are so much smaller. I don't think they would handle the temps. But they were weaned off the heat as 1-week olds.

    More than 1 rooster

@oldhenlikesdogs has basically covered everything and given some good advice, so there's not much left for me to say. Basically, since they are raised together, and there is a lot of hens, I don't see any problems occurring---yet. It all depends on the maturing stage. I have roughly 12...

Newborn Chick Struggling to Breathe... Help!

Oh, no. I had a chick hatch in the incubator that was like that; struggling to breathe, some weird mucus coming out of its mouth, and a very very sticky chick. I don't know how it happened or what caused it, as all the others were fine. I tried with a lot of effort to save it, but the little...

It sucks in a way, but I much prefer it to the blistering heat. Do your chickens stop laying in the cold? I was hoping to set eggs yesterday, but I only found 6 chicken eggs, no turkey eggs, and no Quail eggs!
