    2024-2025 Sheep Showing

I think she will do better in the Registered Hair Breed classes. There were only 2 hair sheep in the ORB category here. This royal white made 3rd place. I guess I need to go up to 18% show feed on the ones we plan on showing. It's a month and a half younger than Socks but really muscly.

    2024-2025 Sheep Showing

So we are home. Cassandra had a ton of fun and made a friend. She was 3rd in Junior Sheep Skill-a-thon and got a nice award. I'm unsure of actual score or how many kids competed. She did not place in showmanship. She showed her friends second Southdown ewe in the lamb class and pair of ewe...

    2024-2025 Sheep Showing

We got there at 11:09 and we're finally checked in and set up at 1:35pm. This is first time the show has used this facility and I think it shows. Cassandra gave Socks and both of us a bath. The heated dryer feature is a keeper. I was being hailed a hero since I tracked conduit across barn to...

    2024-2025 Sheep Showing

The last couple months have been crazy. Cassandra had been working with Oreo who is great. Progress with Socks has been slow. Socks is super green but no worse then some I saw at other shows.

Ridgetop - our place and how we muddle along

We used this module to turn small chest freezer into refrigerator for our trailer. It works great. You put thermometer inside freezer and plug it into the outlet. Box monitors the thermometer and turns power to freezer on and off...

For chickens, I just skinned them enough to pull breasts out since I don't cook with the skin.

    Margali's Griffin Wood Ranch

Actually, didn't hurt after initial stab at all. Just an irritated, infected spot. So I kept pulling the scab, squeezing leg as much as I could to force out some fresh blood, then packed with prescription antibiotic cream. Today it finally got to where I saw the black end of the splinter when...

    Coffee anyone ?

I forget where you live but I'd worry more about a big snapping turtle. They lurk out of sight more than a gator. One took a friend's dog while I was in college. Fairly small pond but when the guys dragged pond with chain net the snapper had about 3ft wide shell.

Welp, that explains why leg stab wasn't healing after 2 weeks. I HATE thorny trees!!!

The ranch is an LLC. I will give hubby the recommendation. You might be right on trees, the wifi worked over winter then stopped.

Camera planning. I really, really want working cameras at sheep shed. Husband got different wifi broadcaster but it is still not running cameras well. The solar panel is running lights just fine. The property is 450ft wide by ~1500 long. Here is distance for planned runs, the orange spot is our...

The journey into the abyss of no return

@Weldman I would love to get your advice to double check hubby's picks. I'm going to put in my journal so I can find it later.

    Boone-My Anatolian Unicorn

@peteyfoozer Ouch! Hope you recover quickly. Maybe consider an anchor eye with a short lead on door frame were you can attach him as you open the door checking for playmates? So it would be command sit, attach, open door, go thru, sit, detach and on your way? And he would get instant feedback of...

The journey into the abyss of no return

@Baymule IR is short for infrared which is the section of light spectrum just below visible light. A lot of night time security cameras have a small IR light built in. The pictures I've shared of the all gray scale night view of the sheep pen are using IR. You can also buy flood lights that...

    Margali's Griffin Wood Ranch

I got weighs on the young sheep in my flock. Coconut is 57.58lbs at 187days old. That is 0.28lbs /day. I guess that is okay with all her troubles. I'm considering putting her with the show sheep on hay and grain. GWR2415 single ram lamb is 34.52lbs at 29days old. That is 0.81lbs/day. GWR2416...
