MuldrowHomeFarm-Our journey into Farming (little did we know this is where we were going....)

It has been too hot on the farm lately! A few small showers made the humidity soar! Chicken coop is almost finished! Baby Guineas are getting big!

In Harvey, yes the property was completely flooded. Thank God we had NO animals at that time. For Imelda, we were going to Auction on the 28th of September and Imelda hit us on the 17-18th. We had a lot of clean up to do before we brought the goats home. We have built burms so the animals will...

Goat screaming in pain and can't stand - EMERGENCY!

I'm so sorry you lost her. I don't know if poisoning would have been that fast but I guess it is possible. It doesn't sound like a vet would have been able to save her. I hate that when goats go down, it can happen so fast. I wish we could have been more helpful.

Of course we can make suggestions but nothing more and we would all be guessing. You need someone in person to help.

@Senile_Texas_Aggie , Thank you but I am not offended by questions and I don't mind folks knowing the area I live in but if it is something too personal, I will send the info privately and say so. Thanks for being so considerate.

Finally, some Sunny days ahead. July is supposed to be one of our driest months but this year has been almost 3 weeks of rain. Not posting much due to actual work getting done! Along with 2 days of babysitting Captain Spiderman.

    Fist Livestock on our Homestead

If you have never seen the procedure done with a Dewalt drill, let me tell you, I held a grudge for him against myself! He was such a good patient though. When they sedated him, he was so woosey and I sat on the ground next to him, petting him. It was the closest I had ever gotten to him. Once...

    Is my wethers a buck?

If Dixie were pregnant and her udder was larger, she would be in her last month of a 5 month pregnancy. Udders do not form until the end of pregnancy in goats. So neither Luke or Whiskey would be the sire.

    Fist Livestock on our Homestead

I'm glad to read this. When our goats came home, they got pinkeye, from the auction house, possibly, since our land was freshly cleared and no animals had been housed there.....unless, it can be picked up from the land/plants.. ..or wild animals.....we have Racoons, Skunks, Armadillos, Coyotes...

@Baymule Yes, our little boy, Branson, has been gelded. NASTY business and I am not looking forward to having River gelded. I couldn't watch but DH sat through the whole surgery, which was done outside, yes, I know they are large animals but still! And it was done with a DRILL. Ugh!! I had...

Today was interesting. Bought carrots and apples for donkeys. This is their monthly treat. One Alpaca, Midnight, loved the carrots but turned her nose up at the apples until Pearl tasted the apples and loved them. Pearl would have nothing to do with the carrots though. None of the other 4...
