Yesterday my husband told me that our bun is missing a bottom tooth. Sure enough, it's gone! We let him wander the fenced yard during the day so he had freedom to chew on things. I have no clue how he managed to lose the tooth. My question is, will it grow back? I know the top teeth keep growing...
I let Luke the pig out to graze today and after awhile he fell asleep in the tall grass. I came over to pat him and he jumped up, squealing. He's never done that before so I think our bun, Mr. Jerkface McJerkson, has created a bit of trauma. One too many times of Luke taking a peaceful nap and...
Any updates? Can you tell if she's pregnant yet? I've got 2 new goats that I was told were pregnant but I can't tell by looking at them. It's frustrating, for sure.
I've been letting Rex have the run of the yard during the day (secured, fenced yard). He tried to get into the pig pen one day and harass the pigs and I had to go chase him off the hunt but other than that, he's been okay.
Yesterday, however, I had to laugh. We just got two Nigerian Dwarf goats...
For the first time ever I tried to copper bolus a goat. Daughter and I went out and grabbed Lily and Poppy, our, er, HER Nigerian Dwarfs. I think it was their first time, too (they're 14 months old) and...totally botched it. :th
Push the plunger and then, "Crunch, CRUNCH, crunch!"
Both girls...
Thank you! I'll need to get the microscope and kit but I'll definitely come back and ask for help. The whole running a fecal thing is pretty neat. I never thought I'd find poop so exciting.
I'm only thinking of shaving them because they currently have lice and I read it can help to keep their fur shorter while dealing with the infestation. We only have 2 does so far.
I think our girls might have lice, too. sigh. When it rains, it pours.
They aren't eating any grains. They just completely ignore it. Still happily munching on all the greenery, though. I checked our goat feed and it's not medicated. Either way, they're not eating it so I'll need to get the...
Did you end up shaving them?
I'm thinking of shaving ours but all we have are human hair clippers. What kind of clippers did you use or were thinking of using?
Yes! We had goats a couple of years ago but had to get rid of them for a myriad of reasons. These are technically my 16-year-olds goats buuuut...I love to take care of them, too. :D =D
I wasn't sure where, exactly, to post this so I'm asking here.
We got 2 (supposedly) pregnant Nigerian Dwarf goats last week, they're roughly 14 months old. They've been here 8 days now. Yesterday I noticed some clumpy poop but thought it belonged to our pig, who had managed to get to our top...
Yup! Only it turns out the owner DID have Nigerian Dwarfs so we bought 2 of them instead of the mini-Nubs. The Nigerians are, supposedly, pregnant (they've been in with a buck for a couple of months and she didn't see them come back in heat) but I can't tell. They're due the end of August but...
Alrighty. Thank you for the advice. 😁
We're going over to see the goats this evening. Thought we would be looking at Nigerians but, apparently, they're mini-Nubians. A mother and daughter, both pregnant. Never had mini-Nubs. Need to do some research and see if they're as loud as "Regular" Nubians.
We have an opportunity to buy a couple of pregnant Nigerian Dwarf goats but they're due late August and we're moving mid August (in the same town, so not a long journey). Would it be too stressful for the does to move so late in pregnancy?
