    Single pet sheep?

Galaxy is a goat. But I hear the same thing about goats all the time. I would have no problem keeping a single if I really didn't want 2. But that's just me.

    Single pet sheep?

I have sold a goat to a single goat home. Galaxy is super bonded to his little girl. I don't see a problem with it, but I know most will say differently.

    Nigerian Goat Enclosure

We have IBC totes for housing and they work great. We get them free from the dairy just down the road. We also have pallets used for fencing....free is always good!

Bottle feeding my 8 and 9 week old kids

@Lynn O You are definitely at the tail end of bottle feeding. You can taper them off the bottle now or leave them on a little longer....whatever works best for you! I would definitely drop them to 2 bottles a day. Yep, they will be drama queens and you will be STARVING them! LOL Take the...

    Do goats need grain?

Depends. I know a LOT of breeders that never feed grain and don't have an issue. I choose to feed grain because I know my hay quality is lacking and I only have pasture, no browse. In the summer when there is graze, I don't supplement hay or grain. Babies will grow faster if fed grain, but...

    Do goats need grain?

No, goats don't need grain. As long as they are getting good hay and sounds like lots of browse, they will be fine

    Anti Chick Pick/Cream

Pine Tar. It's an old-timer remedy and works like a charm. You also don't have to apply it every few hours. Use gloves unless you want pine tar fingers for a couple days. Should be able to find a can of it at your feed store and it's not too expensive. You can also put red lights up. If...

    Hi From NW Kansas

@OllieAcres The funniest thing I have ever seen was a horse meeting a llama for the 1st time. Nobody was on the horse. And it would put it's head down to graze and the llama would move closer. It didn't graze for long because it was so worried about that weird critter. Finally got...

Want to Build a Garage / Barn Combo

My barn is 1/3 farm shop and 2/3 animal space. There is a small room that goes from the barn side into the shop. It's been covered by insurance for as long as we've had it. I think it sounds very doable. I would try and make sure the lean to was not facing prevailing winds in summer and...

    Hi From NW Kansas

@Pastor Dave OH! NO!! NO NO NO NO We went to an exotic animal auction and I left my husband for TEN minutes and he bought RABBITS! Luckily, I managed to sell them before we killed them. We haven't had much luck with rabbits. LOL I would like to get meat rabbits sometime in the future but...

How Much Land Do You Have?

@Ponker We have some of the same projects going. We bought a trencher that hooks onto the tractor and is run by PTO so we can trench some lines in. I want a hydrant at the chicken house, at the corral, at the garden, etc. The fun part is going to be figuring out exactly where all the existing...

How Much Land Do You Have?

The pond use to be stocked with bullheads. Yummy...not. LOL It dried up for a couple years so there isn't anything in it. It is actually a tailwater pit from ditch irrigation. Not very deep and does still dry up when we don't get any rain.

    Hi From NW Kansas

LOL Sometimes it is more than one full time job. I played out today and couldn't finish helping. Hubby is using tractor to fill feeders (I think....he's awful slow) I have yet to make lotion. I did make lotion bars but they are really greasy in my opinion. I just found a lotion recipe I...

Bottle babies and preparation-What to know

Oh. You will have several options for nipples. We like the "pop toppers" that screw onto a regular soda bottle (like in my avatar). You can also get lamb nipples that slip over a glass pop bottle (I hate those as they are hard to get on and if you get one that sucks hard, they can suck them...
