I've got 2 does that are packing hay around gitn ready to kindle... I'm super excited this will be the 1st litter out of the 2 new bucks I bought... a red NZ & a big Californian buck, I feel like a lil kid at Christmas lol
Well it's been 4 days with the nest box in there... no kits & she's startn to use it as a litter box so I guess I'm gonna take it out but hopefully she's bred to my cali buck & I'll have lil cali kits in 4wks or so "fingers crossed" I really appreciate all the advice on the situation
I put her with my buck & he covered her & fell off once then she started fighting him pretty aggressively so I took her out it was that night that she pulled fur so I thought with the way she fought him & all there could be a chance she was already bred but I'm not sure
Sorry I was asleep & didn't have my glasses on when I wrote that last update. I meant no babies lol but she's hangn out in the nest box.... the only thing that makes me skeptical is she's not bellied down but I'm still hopeful
I thought the same thing so I threw some hay in a nest box & put some of the fur she pulled in there & tossed it in her cage before I left for work tonight.... maybe it'll be full of babies when I get home in the morning "fingers crossed" lol
I bought a couple californian does Thursday they're 9 months old & nice & healthy... my issue is 1 of these does started pulling fur last night & it looked like a rabbit exploded in her cage, the man I bought them from said he was fairly sure she hadn't been exposed to a buck but I've never seen...
Pastor Dave... maybe she wasn't producing enough milk to support the growing kits past the 2 that are currently alive, the older they get the more milk they need obviously which could explain them being plump initially then progressively fading
I was thinkn about building 30x30 stacking cages & I have californians & new zealands so I should probably go with the heavier gauge then huh... is there a better place than bass equipment to buy the wire that you know of?
I've never dealt with mastitis in my rabbits but I've worked at several dairies in my late teens & early 20's & your scrambled egg description sounds accurate for mastitis but I've never seen it w/o the presence of heat in the bag or teats, we always treated it with antibiotics & milked all the...
I haven't had good luck with calf manna it's my experience that they dig it out of their feeders & waste it for some reason.... maybe I didn't stick with it long enough to get em to start eatn it
I had a trio that was nz/cali cross that I was using as breeders about 2yrs ago & they were produding good size litters but they were having the same problem & growing out poorly they ended up much smaller than they should have... I ended up buying a new trio of black nz & they produced large...
