I would like to take a minute to wish the Dads, fathers, step-dads, grandpas, uncles, male figures in someone's life, a Happy Father's Day!
The John Deere R will always remind me of my Dad and childhood. We no longer have the 1:1 scale tractor, but here is a 1:64 scale.
In memory of Dad
I like Indiana. You got the dunes or lake effect and timber land to the North. Flat open plains in the middle (where I'm from). And it gets hilly with timber in the South. I prefer Southern Indiana.
I browse at small farms and homesteads generally in low to mid $200,000's. I did find one...
I put the bib overalls up once it hits abt 70 and go with cargo shorts unless handling hay, then I sweat through it wearing bibs.
When I mow, I put on high athletic socks and work boots because of snakes and poison ivy/oak and such. Chores with the bunnies is often done in [shorts] sneakers or...
No buns yet. Just heavy panting. In other news, CT appears to be a male and is getting interested in the other does. He will be a good breeder to replace Gilbert.
It would be good to know the results, but not sure they can be saved or it's financially feasible. If it's cost efficient to vaccinate, maybe give it shot. Bunnylady would give a much better answer, but I am not sure if she's had much activity here lately.
I did have a good day today helping another family through their sorrows and goodbyes. It would have been exactly what Dad would have preferred over focusing on him. It gave me something to concentrate on over that of being sad for myself. The family seemed to be going through all the healthy...
It was such a busy week with various congregational members needing my attention. As it nears the first anniversary of my Dad's funeral, a fine lady almost 90 years old has passed. She lived a good life, lived alone, and was active up until the day the Lord took her home. I was praying with her...
I have a hiccup with the women/girls terminology. Not out of disrespect, but out of age factor. I tend to use the term ladies. It works for girls, oh say 10+ on through high school age and college, and I think it continues to work up to infinity. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Lol
3 years ago in July when I made the final launch to get back into rabbits after a 20 year hiatus, I found a small hobby farm not too far away and wanted to buy some cages. The lady wanted to be rid of the rabbits in order to sell the cages, so I bought 4 cages of various sizes with 4 rabbits in...
And, this morning I found out we lost our original buck, Gilbert. He wasn't feeling well last night and I made sure he could reach his water and got a drink before closing up the shed. I walked in this am and was pretty sure he was gone.
He had been a breed I didn't want as a breeder. He had...
My acre produced some nice hay this time. Weeds were under control and it turned out pretty green. I ended up with a dozen mini bales and 4 mesh totes. The minis are abt a third of a regular square bale. It should be enough for the year, but I could get a second cut if I need too. My neighbor...
My best results yet have been fans creating lots of air movement and 2L or 3L bottles with water, frozen and placed with the buns in the heat if the day. I rotate them between 2 feeezers. One is a apt size cube half-chest freezer, and the other is a fridge with top third freezer.
I have enough...
