Sorry to keep everyone waiting, I haven’t logged in for a while, but we ended up naming her Charlie! :love We wanted a play off charcoal because her cheeks are a gorgeous charcoal gray color.
Joyful is 75 Saanan and 25 Alpine, and The buck she was bred with was full Alpine! Very stong Saanan presence in the babies though yes! We love Joyful, great temperment and yessss loads of milk. I get about a gallon a day from her when she’s at her prime in milk!
They are the first kids born on our farm so we don’t have a trend yet necessarily. We’re throwing around a lot of random ideas, but I’ve been leaning more toward a nature theme or trend..
We want one name to be more feminine and the other more tough to kinda match their personalities.
So far...
Joyful had her babies yesterday morning! Two big, beautiful, and healthy does. Mom and babies are all strong and doing great!
We’re so thankful that it’s been such a smooth birth, nearly a completely hands off experience. (Besides the iodine umbilical cord dip)

I have terrible news, Miracle had to be put down this morning. She became worse very quickly and was suffering terribly. :(
The vet said it could have been an ulcer, but nothing was confirmed, it happened too fast.
Thank you all for the help through this experience, it has been a tragic one...

She was wormed with Ivermax equine paste dewormer. Given a BO-SE injection, Vitamin B Complex injection, and Probios probiotic.
They...
This is our first experience with kidding goats and so far it’s been absolutely tragic.
One of our does had a premature stillborn on Monday night. (She was due at the end of June.) She’s always been the least dominant in the herd so a little on the skinnier side compared to the other two...
I live on a small farm here in West Michigan! We call our homestead Section 24 Farm and we raise goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits and honey bees! (Occasionally some ducks or quail too. Oh, and our human babies lol.) Looking forward to sharing my experiences and receiving some advice along the way!
We have three pregnant does. I bathed one of them last week and didn't see any bugs on her.. but now she seems to be infested with little white larvae looking bugs and some larger darker lice looking bugs. After reading up I believe its sucking lice. We've never experienced this before, but I...
