I edited my post because I did not see the added wire on the floor on my phone and I am looking at on my computer now, but it looks to be just a sheet under the cage, I think. I would not do it that way, but I guess it works with their set up.
I am not sure of the dimensions, I prefer large...
In both nesting boxes? If it is placenta, which is likely, that would not be abnormal if you caught them immediately after kindling. Or they could leave it, especially if your does are young and these were their first kindlings.
Whatever it is, if the does have not cleaned it up, I would remove...
Well, my doe does not fight him, just runs around, and when he gives up, she humps him until she gives up, and a few minutes later they do this whole ritual again and then again...and so it goes until they both give up and fall asleep. However, I do think that same doe has the same...
I SO wish that were true with my doe, but apparently she did not get that memo. :idunno
I watched her in a buck's cage for hours at a time :popand she just continued to wear him out until they both went to sleep. :hu I thought I could out last her once, but she did the same thing day after day...
@Bunnylady can answer this better than I, but I am guessing a whole lot of possibilities and quite possibly none would be white. I know that the "cc" alleles that make a rabbit a REW, hides all other color genetics, but when bred with another color, then you see some of those otherwise hidden...
The first time I saw this behavior with a first-time doe, I pulled her out to check that she really was a doe.:ep
And she is still the one that is difficult to breed: runs the buck, backs into a corner, will not lift, humps him when he is too tired out, chasing her and then being chased by her...
Rabbits tend to be skittish because their best and first defense is to run away and hide. They tolerate being picked up, but I would not say that they enjoy it, because they are ground animal whose best and first defense is to run away and hide. I repeated that on purpose because if you...
I got a bit lost with the where they were when...was the original pen the colony where they developed pink eye?
I had not had any rabbits with pink eye but I keep my rabbits off the ground which reduces their exposure to such things generally. I think pink eye can be a secondary problem, more...
@Suzy74 I don't think the rabbits can count either. ;)
You count the day after the breeding as "1." However, I used to put mine in about a week before the due date. The point is that you just do not want the doe peeing and pooping in nesting box, which some does may do if it is in the cage too...
Probably not more than three times, unless she is something quite special otherwise. Most of the breeders I know have a three strikes rule.
Welcome to the rabbit world where you make a good breeding plan and then learn rabbits do not do plans. :th
Hi!
My idea you might not like...but if she were mine, she would be done as a breeder. However, you could try removing the nesting box to bring the kits inside and take them out to her two or three times a day for them to nurse and keep doing that until their eyes are open. Then they should...
I read that an Agouti chestnut or chinchilla that is expressing steel will not have Agouti rings, but steel has been the bane of my trying to understand how to identify genetics so.... :he For instance, I had what I thought was a solid black that I later thought was silvering on the sides, being...
...when you sing "Bunny, bunny, bunny. BUUUUNNNY!" (to the tune of The O'Jays' song For The Love of Money) and all the bunnies and rabbits come up to their cage doors to see you...and you consider that one of your favorite times of the day!
:pop
I am pretty sensitive when it comes palpating for other things on animals and people but I have yet to feel a "grape" in any of my does. Maybe I do not press in deep enough?
@promiseacres I know that it sounds counterintuitive but if red lights are used continuously, it would over stimulate that aggressive tendency to the point that it is not effective as a stimulant and have a depressant affect on the aggressive tendecies. There are therapeutic methods of using...
@promiseacres
Now you are talking in my area of research, some twenty years work with the physiological and psychological effects of frequencies, harmonics, and colored light. Scarlet, blue based red (think of the reddest of apples and not tomato, an orange based red) would be ideal for...
