I don’t have much goat experience, but I think you might get more replies to this post if you changed the title. “Rehoming Goats” sounds like you are looking for someone to take your goats of your hands rather than give advice for adjusting them to their nice new home!

I was nervous about tagging my own critters at first, but it was surprisingly easy on both human and sheep, less distressing than a hoof-trimming session

Would ear tags work for you? My sheep have names, farm, and ID numbers on their ear tags, and you can buy customized tags from Premier 1, so I imagine you could add your contact info as well.

Maybe you could ease them into goats by starting with raising a kid for show or market. I don’t know anything about those livestock niches, but the built-in end date might overcome some of your parents’ hesitation while giving you another chance to demonstrate a positive experience with goat(s).

To avoid the difficulty of disposing of a large volume of acid solution, I used the brush-on method described in the article I posted instead of the soaking method. I got my acid and washing soda from Van Dykes. All the solution needed, a half batch of the given recipe, fit in this manageable...

He was a fairly small sheep, but the hide is smaller than it would be if I hadn’t damaged/wasted so much by inexperience.

By the end, I had to trim off some damaged hide from the edges, had two holes, a tear at the edge, and some lost wool, but I’d still consider this a success for a beginner.
