    Triple Dewormer?

It is based on condition only, the "danger" time of the year for us is spring, summer and fall. Spring they are on grain and fall they are on grain.....so the real time of concern is summer when they are on nothing but dry 1st cut hay atm. We can do fecals if we choose to spend the money to get...

    Triple Dewormer?

Is anyone else doing triple dewormers? Our vet has us doing triple wormers on our sheep and goats once a year(lambing/kidding) unless they lose condition. She told us don't bother with FAMCHA as it is worthless. So when we pull lambs everyone gets all 3 classes of wormers and corid in the...

    Registration

If you have the papers for the goat, like when you bought it you got a registration application you should be able to call the registry and ask for instructions or what you need to do. If it is a grade goat(no papers) it s possible to get it register as NOA which is native on appearance and...

    Price for goats?

Little late but I wouldnt buy anything atm. Right now prices for us locally at auction are $260-400 each, regular prices before the pandemic goats were $75 and up each. Everyone with a goat atm is trying to sell anything they can for as much as they can get. Backyard buck kids people are asking...

Boots or shoes specifically for step in posts

Oh yes sheep and goats both love poison ivy! Animals doing the majority of the work for our pasture project is what makes it possible, we wouldnt be able to afford the machine rental to clear 10 acres of brush/small trees otherwise. We did request a controlled burn of our 10 acres if we cleared...

Boots or shoes specifically for step in posts

The 8acre pasture is no longer an option as our friend has not gotten cows that need his pasture. The pasture we are making at our house is a heck of a struggle....we are literally making it. Our 12acres was clear cut some number of years ago before we owned it, they left all the trash and...

Boots or shoes specifically for step in posts

We don't rotate now which really sucks for the sheep. They could be on green pasture all summer and spring if we could trust them in the net fence. Instead we are juts building permanent pastures to rotate the sheep, goats and cows thru on our property. Until this year they all went to a 8 acre...

Boots or shoes specifically for step in posts

Be carful...our sheep didn't challenge the premier nets for over a year. Now we have 660ft of sheep net that is useless to us. They found if they just run thru it fast most of them dont get shocked. We even tried using T-posts to string it up tighter...no dice.

    Are vegan food policies legal?

Sadly there is nothing stopping your Boss from making" the all vegan rule" It is completely legal unless you can prove eating meat is strongly related to a religion you are part of. Food choices not related to religion is not a "protected class" meaning it can NOT be legally discriminated...

Hi I’m Tanya Graham I’m a new member glad to be here! By the way I’m in need of boarding for 12 baby pigs and 3 baby goats by June 6,2021 will pay.

Not usually a service offered here. As @farmerjan said....no one can even offer assistance unless they know where you live and the other terms behind the need for your animals to be boarded. It seems odd you would have a bunch of baby animals but no place to keep them, there could be a valid...

DH wanted to used barbed wire for the electric on this pasture because he didnt believe the fencer would do the job....he believes it now!! Anyhow someone gave use two brand new rolls of redbrand bared wire, so we have half a mile of the stuff. I get worried the goats or sheep will get tangled...

    When a pig has attitude

Agreed mean pigs dont stay here long with exception of Sara who got many free passes before she ultimately got "let go from her position" and if she wasnt DH's favorite pig she would have been gone far sooner. Truely she didnt start acting mean/aggressive to people until she was over 600lbs and...

    Making A Pasture

It's really looking great Bay!!! Have you looked into bridsfoot trefoil? We grow that a lot up here but it supposedly grows in zones 1-7 and is a legume. Pretty hardy for us and doesnt die off in the summers or drought.....our idea of drought is probly not the same as texas drought though. I...

    Raw Old Fleece

Sure so long as I have enough fleeces to go around. I will say we do not sheet our sheep so there is going to be VM and a good deal of cleaning to be done. I will discard the skirt portion and just send the blanket.

Message me next year around this time and I will send you some colored fleeces if you want to mess with. Just pay the shipping. We have suffolk and some mutt sheep, the mutts are polypay crosses but have some really nice fleece that no one here wants. We have white, black, light mottled grey...
