Last night was the first time we separated Nilla from her doelings to look at her udder. We did not immediately milk her out. We let her doelings out to nurse. Only milking the excess. The second picture is a weird angle because she kept moving wanting scratches. Nillas doelings are a month old...
Those are both big breeds. I would make sure to get a weight on her. Go from there. Just multiply her weight by .9 that will give you how many ounces she should be getting each feeding.
Since you already have the milk replacer, I would use it as the directions say. I personally have not used replacer, i either use milk from my goats or whole cows milk.
You can pick her up and get on a scale, then get on the scale with out the goat. Subtract and have a weight on her. This is...
At 10 days old (I read got her 10 days ago). I would be feeding 6 times a day. If you can get an accurate weight on her. You want to be feeding 4 ounces per 5 pounds. I stopped measuring how much, and let them get their bellies nice and full each feeding. If she's 8 pounds she should be getting...
Do you know how old the baby is and how much it weighs? That will help with how much/how often you should be feeding. I would use whole cows milk from the store over replacer.
Got an updated picture of Kate. She's come a long way. First picture when we brought her home. Second picture today. She's looking a bit round. Got all the goats blood pulled, will be sending it off today. We should have results by end of day Friday.
I have decided to start my registered mini mancha herd. The mini mancha is my absolute favorite breed. The thread currently will be plans for the herd. With showing the progression. I am in no rush to get to F6. I want to make sure that our foundation is solid before moving forward into F5...
My oldest daughter thinks Kate is pregnant.
When we picked up Kate we were given two different time frames when she might be due (if she is pregnant). She was put with two different bucks. The first set of dates with buck A have come and gone. But the dates for buck B have not. If she got bred...
Do you have pictures of the new goats? Both Alpine and Nubian are huge goats. How old is the buckling that is on the milker? Depending on the age of her buckling, he may be drinking all her milk. Do you happen to have an udder picture?
The size difference should not be an issue. They will...
@Xerocles I love names that are not usually used. Our mini lamanchas bucks name is Satyr. Though my husband wanted to name him 8 ball. Here is a picture of him. Can you see why he wanted to name him 8 ball?
@Duckfarmerpa1 have you decided if you will be drying off Busty? I got a picture of...
Hubby has been wanting to raise our wethers for some time to process. This year I agreed. Our does had 2 bucks. One Mini Lamancha and one boer/lamancha. DH also went and purchased 2 nubian wether bottle babies that we will be fattening up as well. With our processor he gives a discount if you...
All the babies are growing. Nillas babies are all 8.5 lbs. Nyx's buck is at 14.7. Maries buck is up to 14.8. I need to get some pictures of the babies. They're all so adorable.
Marie was not producing enough milk for her buckling. We had to pull him to bottle feed. I am emotional when it comes...
Our mini nubian had airplane ears. Maybe she is that? Her pictures do not make her look skinny. She has ND so she is at least part milk goat. She will be hippy looking, especially while in milk. Can you feel her spine and ribs? In the pictures she actually looks like she has a fat bulge along...
