yeah, I hear you. The trough was here when we bought the house. It's one of those black Rubbermaid ones. I am assuming it is 50 based on others I have seen that are similar. I also have a small kiddie pool I fill up that is on the porch for when they are out running around.
It is city water. No, they are not dropping anything in it. We get crazy winds out of the south sometimes, so hay gets blown in there, or grass, or chicken feathers sometimes. I have a fish net I am going to use to get that type of stuff out. Its only 50 gallons and I only have 3 goats.
Okay thanks! I wasn't sure. I read about how the water should be clean and it's almost impossible. I do not have much shade. I did move it to be against the house the afternoon it will be shaded. Its green algae I think..like an Army green color.
Hello ya'll!
I recently saw a video where a gentleman suggested using Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing to kill algae and such in cow/horses water trough. He said it takes the oxygen out of the water and is safe for cattle and horses. So my question is... has anyone ever done this? what do you use...
Thank you so much. I went out to check on them about 30 min ago and it seems that his stools might hardening a bit, but still not where they need to be. Hopefully he will continue to head in the right direction.
I did not know that about the heat. It had been unusually hot this time of year in TX. Texas summers are always hot, but we normally do not see above 100 until late July/August. This year it wasted no time getting above 100. I will call the vet and see what he suggests. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your help. So far, he is acting normal, just has diarrhea. I do not see anything about giving a second dose on the box. I will give him 5 days from the day I gave it to him, which was yesterday, and then give him another dose if needed. Does that seem like enough time in...
Thank you. Do you know how to properly dose? I got a horse dewormer, Safegaurd, and I read that you can use these on goats and to times the goats weight by 3 and that is how much you give them per the paste tube. However, Huck is not that heavy and is probably only 30 to 40 lbs. I am not sure...
Thank you. I gave him some probiotics and I gave him some dewormer paste. I am not sure if I gave him enough or too much. He seems to be eating okay and acting normally. thank you for the help.
Hello ya'll,
My young wether, Huck, has scours. He is 6 months old. I am not sure how much he weighs. When I fed them this morning, I noticed he had it on his hind end and leg and I saw a few spots on his on the ground. It appears to be a greenish color..greenish/brown maybe and there is no...
I know you know that my chickens and goats are literally in my backyard on almost an acre. We have an area on the side of the house sectioned off for the goats and then another area sectioned off with a really poorly made chicken run. I had no idea what I was doing really and had not found any...
Hi ya'll!
I have chicken and goat, literally in my backyard. we have a standard privacy fence and I have a run (not the best right now) that my goats keep braking into. My question is: Is there anyone out there that has goats and chickens that just free roam? If so, how do you keep the goats...
