My buck does the same thing. Sometimes he will be pumping away and then just stop and lay on her back for a minute to rest lol. I don't consider it a bad thing but it def doesn't count as a fall off. Seems to me to just be part of the "dance".
As far as adjacent cages. Is it the two does that...
Nice! I tried to rebreed both my girls yesterday too. Only one was cooperative. Oh well. I will keep trying this week. At least I got the meat mama bred. I know I will be grateful for that come mid winter.
Momma's litter of pedigreed pets is about 5 weeks old today. They are absolutely adorable, and I already have 3 reserved! The buyer requested 3 females. Hopefully in a week I will be able to sex them and send him some pictures. Then at 7 weeks I will tattoo them and 8 weeks off to their new...
So, I just got my first rabbit tattoo outfit. I sprung for the inkinator, ordered from KW cages. I also got a bunny burrito to wrap the little ones up when I am marking them. It seems pretty straight forward. Slow, deliberate lines on the inside of the left ear.
Any one have any tips or tricks...
Update time. Some good news and bad news. Bad news first: Crewella has passed on. My wife got her a toy and it kinda unraveled and she ate a string of it. The string jammed up her intestines and she died. My wife was devastated and I was sad. We dug her a grave in the yard next to another...
Rabbit update!
Yesterday I processed Maples first litter. A batch of 9 at 10.5 weeks old. They weighed between 4.5-6 lbs! I was thrilled with the weights, my average being right above 5 lbs. This was my first batch so I am VERY happy to know my meat breeding pair (Am. chin buck and NZ doe)...
Got a chance to use my bolt gun yesterday for the first time. Overall I was very pleased with it. I processed 9, 10ish week old rabbits ranging from 4.5-6 pounds. Of the 9, one screamed after the bolt before I could decapitate it.
Some observations: I think with the right placement the gun...
I think it is safe to say Crewella has miscarried. Her belly has shrunk and she isn't acting pregnant anymore. If she expelled anything solid she must have cleaned it up because I am yet to find even a piece of a kit. Seeing as this is her second failed litter, I have decided to retire her...
@B&B Happy goats thank you for the reply. Guess I should of added the doe is a bit over a year old and this would be her second litter. Her first one she had 4 on the wire on day 32, none survived. She is my little problem bunny for sure.
My doe is on day 36. I can see the kits moving in her belly. She has pulled a lot of fur and seems to have had a few false starts (in nest for hours, panting) but still no kits. Curious what is the longest you have seen a doe go and kindle a healthy litter? Thanks!
