Would you buy these rabbits at this price??

I plan on breeding her with my Chinchilla buck. I do have another cage empty though so maybe I will see what she has.:bunny She is asking $60 for her. I am definitely not set on New Zealands. I just want a decent, consistently producing meat mom. The prettier, and calmer, the better. :)

@Ridgetop after looking at pics of cinnamons I think you nailed it. That makes me feel a little better. Seems this lady just doesn't really know what she has. Hopefully she is right about the age etc!

I am picking her up on Monday. :) Born 10/12/20 Her mom has average litters of 10 and good mothering abilities. Both parent weights look good. Hopefully she will be the meat factoyt I am hoping for. Then there will be less pressure on my shy chinchilla doe, and when she is ready she can have...

@Ridgetop what can you tell me about tortoise shell NZs? Is that a thing? Hard to find much on google. Seems like they are a color, but not a showable one? I am looking at a beautiful, HUGE 5 month old "NZ" but I have never heard of this color before so I am weary. Should be just as tasty as any...

The scale is analog so instead of a tare button, it has a little knob you can use to zero it out with the bucket hanging on. I think the car ride will be the next thing I try. I have looked at her vulva the last 2 days. Yesterday was somewhat pink. I put her in with the buck and neither showed...

These are American Chinchillas. The buck is 9 months and the doe 11 months. They seem to be settling in nicely except so far all breeding attempts have been rebuked by the doe. I am going to let them settle in a bit more before I try again. Also, got my hanging scale in the mail today. Going to...

    Fishy’s Rabbitry 😊

In my (admittedly warped) mind, ranch implies large, wide open spaces. And well, cattle. Rabbitry is accurate whether referring to a 3 hole or 300 hole operation. Will you be offering other products from your "ranch" or is it purely a rabbit venture?

    Fishy’s Rabbitry 😊

My homestead name is Cuckoo Mountain. I always call all the birds "cuckoo birds" real loud and they all come running so my wife thought that would be an apt name. So my small operation is Cuckoo Mountain Rabbitry. :)

How Long Should I Wait To Breed After Bringing The Rabbits Home??

That is Crazy! I just tried again. No ravaging, but no sex either. I left the doe in the bucks cage and put the buck in the does cage. I will leave them like that for a few hours and try again.

How Long Should I Wait To Breed After Bringing The Rabbits Home??

Thank you! I will try again tomorrow morning. Then again in the evening if need be. If still nothing, I will switch cages for the night. I would have been shocked and thrilled if they figured it out their very first time. Tomorrow is another day! Supposed to be warm and sunny too. :) I will be...

How Long Should I Wait To Breed After Bringing The Rabbits Home??

So I attempted it a little while ago. The buck was very eager and must have mounted her about 20 times. She didn't seem very interested though. She would mostly hunker in the corner. It is confusing because she has been tossing her cage and rubbing her chin on stuff. Probably about a dozen times...

    Tre3hugger's Rabbit Thread

I must say, my livestock has been strictly feathered for a while. These little fuzz balls are a nice change and a delight to be around.

Here's the doe before she demolished the box. Looking all innocent. She LOVES the apple tree branch and pinecone. And my curious little man Unless someone tells me it's too soon, I am going to attempt a breeding tomorrow.

I was just spending some time with them and she did just as you described! All zoomie and excited, when I presented my hand and tried to pet her, she just relaxed and closed her eyes! Progress. :) She is kind of a jerk though. I made cardboard hides for them. Cut them all nice and painstakingly...

How Long Should I Wait To Breed After Bringing The Rabbits Home??

Hi everyone. So I got my rabbits on Friday the 12th. American Chinchilla. The doe is 11 months old and the buck is 9 months old. They are unproven. My question is, how long do I need to let them settle in before I attempt to breed them? Can I give it a shot tomorrow or Wednesday? Or should I let...

    Tre3hugger's Rabbit Thread

The doe is so silly! She always does zoomies at feeding time and throws stuff around her cage. Buck is a lot more laid back.

    Tre3hugger's Rabbit Thread

Got my pair Friday of American Chinchilla rabbits. They are really nice, full rabbits. Both are pedigreed and tattooed. This is the buck. His parents weighed 9lb12oz and 9lb13oz. He was born 6/25/2020. He is in a 36"x30'x18' cage And here is the doe. Her parents weighed 10lb12oz and 9lb4oz...
