Not sure if it will make them sick ours seems to eat right around it but there's only a couple small goats with several acres of grass/forage to choice from. I will say if you have a lot now you'll have even more later that stuff spreads like fire
Our sheep have no problems drinking from our pond or creeks but they're usually pretty cautious about it and they don't hang out by them. But we're in central Florida and alligators are not uncommon
Yeah those things are amazingly handy to have around. One thing I found out the hard way is if you use bolt cutters to cut them make sure you file off any sharp edges or they can cut you pretty bad.
