This little one is now named Pinehollows blue skys, sky for short.
Our new herd sire.. still a lamb, nice wool, lilac. His name is Sweetgrass Serenade! I just picked him up on June 21st!
nice shot of Dani my ewe
Things progress quickly, I got our new little ram lamb last weekend... he is registered as lilac, and has some super soft wool. I hope he will help improve our wool in future lambs.
His name is Sweetgrass Serenade....... cause he sang to me the whole ride home!
We also had a little surprise...April 29th... I went down to care for the goats and sheep and ....... up popped this skinny little wet thing.. My Jacobs ewe that I had brought home 2 months ago hadn't shown hardly any sign of being pregnant had her first lamb.
I go the heat lamp moved from...
Sounds like a trade down to me. Look for something better.. don't buy something on that scale just for sentimental reasons. If you receive any funds from the sale of grans house, use that to get something better than you have now.
LOL, well, she didn't look that big then........ but this is of her on March 2nd one month before kidding! I had sent the blood samples in to test for CAE and Johnes, but the darn PO miss handled them. They were no good once they arrived at the lab. By then it was too late to pull more...
I like to use a rasp file and file the heal and nail parts flat.. And
When I trim I keep in mind to check where the hoof and flesh meet... keeping the hoof parallel to the top.
Hope you figure out what their issues are.
Lamb naming.. her daddy's name is Roddy, I thought well then her name should be piper then.. but DH says no cause his bosses dogs name is piper....... what difference does that make?
We have been looking to add a young ram lamb from another breeder in the area. We have a fellow picked out but waiting for him to develop more. I'm not sure yet if I will keep him with my billy, I woory about them sparring and my billy getting hurt since they fight under different rules. I...
yes twins... my girl had Quints, she picked out the three she wanted and left the other two for me to deal with. All are doing well. I gave my girl a calcium drench and B vit injection the day before and one more calcium drench when she started kidding, nutri-drench(between each kid she...
Maybe it's just my billy... he has this.. musky haven't washed hair in a month smell..all the time, which isn't that bad to me. And then smells like "wet" haven't washed hair in a year smell during rut. It will make you stink just thinking about petting him. So we have clothes we wear to...
Is it any good? I have a sheep that lost her lamb and her utter is so full... I know milking will encourage her to produce...but I wonder if it would be worth it to do so, and let some pressure off her udder.
Most drains in a barn just run out the side on to the grass or something... you'll end up needing to clean the poop up on the other end of the drain anyway. Best to scoop it up, then hose down like suggested. Good Lighting and some outlets so you can run a fan to help keep it cool for you and...
well, not so good news, our other jacobs girl had her baby today. It was still born. Poor girl. Hopefully next year will be better for her.
I'll try to get some other picts of the lamb posted.............need help with a name too! I am horrible with names!
Lots of apiaries up here in MI did not survive. One guy lost 300 hives. I feel lucky only losing one, but then again, I only have one. I'm hoping we have better luck this year, but the way spring is, I should say IS NOT going, I don't know how well the bees will do. They're already...
Shes so cute! Pretty color! Well they're all beautiful... what baby goat isn't?
We had these two little cuties born April first........ I cannot decide which one to keep! I'd like both but then that would take my buck out of the picture. I may have to sell them both.. We got such a great...
