Lil came up to feed the babies this morning and it looks like she may have bloody scours. She wouldn't let me close enough to check well.
When she goes in her pen tonight I'll get a goid look. In the meantime does anyone know what may be going on?
Thank you so much for the info! I guess that's what he's doing. Doesn't bother hubby, but it makes me NUTS! Of course if he would let him live outside..... Lol
I've noticed everyone of our sheep and goats ALWAYS seem to act like they're chewing, even when nothing is in their mouth. They've all always done it, for years now, from the time they're a couple months old.
Never really paid much attention to it until hubby became irrationally attached to Bo...
Well Lil feeds them but won't stay with them or protect them so they live in the house and I take them out for feedings. It works for now and they're safe and healthy.
Update!
Lil still isn't a great mom but she's getting better. I take the babies out every few hours. I'm hoping over time she will get better and eventually I can move the babies to a pen with her. She definitely prefers Louise and is more nurturing toward her, while Thelma gets little...
Me too! We are like [--] this close to moving Bo outside and I realllllllllllly don't want to bottle feed two more. They belong with their mom.
We took them out back again last night and held her while they ate. She seemed interested for a short period the bailed on them and took off while they...
Ok took babies out to her because she was at the back door crying. She did not want to let them feed at first and I had to hold her. She did eventually settle down and seemed better with them but still got ugly with Thelma. She didn't attack her but was spitting at her and would walk away and...
She must be done but I caught her attacking the babies! What the crap? I held her so they could eat again but as soon as I let her go she tried slamming one against a wall again. I put her back outside with hay and water and put the babies in my bathroom with a heater on low and lots of beds and...
She passed a placenta then laid down. Then jumped up, paced a bit, pawed at the ground and now is just staring off into space. No placenta bubble or anything. Another placenta is dangling so guessing maybe she's cramping from needing to pass that?
Great, thank you. Mom is in the guest bathroom with them now eating some feed and they are eating. Going to finish setting up the nursery. Thought we had a month so we are way behind on setting up now.
Apparently it was one of the babies that got Lil pregnant. Without a step ladder I have no idea how they reached!
Farm daddy went to feed this morning and found two little girls, still wet. I thought she had another month! She had no signs at all of being in labor.
Both are active and have...
I would have lost my mind and had her admitted at the vet lol. I'm a sick wreck over this. I had wanted babies but I guess I wanted them to magically appear without ours being pregnant. I guess I've heard too many horror stories. :) Your babies are gorgeous.
Thanks everyone. I'll grab vaccines...
