Permethrin 10% for fleas / ticks?

Has or does anyone use the Perm10% mixed with water as a dip for fleas and ticks? We usually get Seresto collars for the dogs and cats but it will be a few weeks before I get them and I noticed a couple of the dogs scratching last night. We used it for goat lice when one of the new babies came...

4 week old indoor baby goat with lice. How do I treat?

Thank you SO much, SBC. Tons of errands this weekend, but this tops the list. Side note, one of the babies refused to leave the big goat pen tonight to come inside. Lil Denny is growing up I guess. :( Princess took some coaxing but Schmoo is all about inside!

    Pumpkin seeds, goats and deworming

Apple flavored ivo? That sounds like a perfect solution! I know most of mine would willingly take that. I will have to look for that! Thank you!

So far we havent had to use anything, with the exception of something the vet gave us when one of the babies got coccidia. The only reason we have the ivo is for the dogs. They get dosed orally once a month for HW prevention. So I will keep it just for that. Just trying to figure out the best...

4 week old indoor baby goat with lice. How do I treat?

I didnt realize you had to mix DE!!! Im so glad you posted! Definitely will change bedding. Once they go out in the morning we take out the tarp with bedding, dump in the burn pile, hose off the tarp and bleach it, then rinse it off ten minutes later and leave in it the sun all day. We rotate...

    Pumpkin seeds, goats and deworming

Thank you SbC. Im not really 'into' the herbal / hollistic thing. My vet's kids go to great colleges and he drives a really sharp sports card, and we fund f lot of that. LOL I guess I was just hoping it worked as well for goats as it did for the torts. :) I have a couple bottles of Safe Guard...

    Pumpkin seeds, goats and deworming

We had land tortoises for years and used pumpkin with seeds as a dewormer. It was natural and getting them to willingly eat it was much easier than fighting a 120# angry tortoise that doesnt want something in its beak! So I had a friend that has grown up and had goats for decades tell me my...

4 week old indoor baby goat with lice. How do I treat?

This is a great post! I found them on one of our babies last night but thought they were black. I looked at pictures of goat lice on line but they were brown or reddish. Apparently my eyes are showing my age because when I used my camera to zoom in on them tonight.....yeh. ugh. Heading to the...

I had to really zoom in, but once I did, lice. Gah! Is there a good topical treatment? I did vaccinations and IV SubQ fluids on dogs and cats for two decades and never thought twice about it. For some reason Im nervous about injecting livestock. My brain knows it is stupid, but I cant help it...

I don't think so. Definitely not ticks. And they don't jump, so I don't think they are fleas. I've got my cell on the charger right now, but will go track little Schmoopie down on a break and get a picture.

Hi everyone! I stumbled upon the forum tonight when doing a search to find out what the tiny black bugs on one of our baby goat kids is. Still not sure. Assumed lice, but it sure doesn't look like the pictures I'm finding! I do love forums though, so I decided to join. We have four goats...
