You may need to get the cattle ones and break them into smaller pieces. I get the Copasure for cattle and empty gel capsules from jeffers and break them into smaller ones for the goats. Approximately 1 gram copper oxide per 20 lbs of body weight is the scale I use. Jeffers carries ones for...
If he passed a stone, then he definitely has UC. I would still treat him for it as there is probably a build up in his system. Drench him with ammonium chloride if you can get it, Fruit Fresh if you can't but at double the dose.
We add ammonium chloride to the feed at a rate of 1 lb per 100...
Peeing blood = treat for Urinary Calculi. It may not be UC but if it is you have a very small window of time before it is fatal. See my post above for the treatment.
We don't do milk goats, we do meat goats but Southern is right. Determine what you need, ask lots of questions and find what is right for you. Try to find people who keep records. Buy from a breeder who is willing to talk to you and answer all your questions. Good goats from from good...
I agree with others. She is just getting them into position. She is also doing her best to drive you Bat Cra@ while you wait. They love to see you with your hair a mess, mismatched shoes and bloodshot eyes from lack of sleep.
I have never tried it but I know people who have fostered baby goats on sheep mommas so I suspect it will be just fine. Sheep's milk is richer than either goat or cow so I bet they will be very fat and happy goats.
IS he peeing at all? Straining to pee can be Urinary Calculi. Is he straining, hunched up or peeing in a drizzle as opposed to a stream? The calcium/phosphorous ratio everyone else expressed concerned about will cause this. If they have not had tetanus vaccine that could be it too.
This...
Sorry I came in late. Yesterday was a crazy day. SO very happy for 10 healthy baby boys and so sorry about the 11th. I know you did everything you can and more than most could or would. I am crying with you and for you but at the same time rejoicing in 10 healthy pups. The best part is...
Quantum will jump a 4' fence from a standing position, but he is a horny, 150 lb Kiko buck. Jack will climb a 4' fence but only when he thinks HIS goats are in danger.
We had old field fence from the previous owners. After years of pulling out heads and patching holes where they busted...
I am going to chime in here. I have a few hundred kiddings under my belt (not exaggerating) and this is what I have learned from observing hundreds of pregnant goats. Some will show signs for a month before kidding. Some will show none at all and then POOF- baby. Some will show signs they are...
Southern, if you are talking about George Hucks, I have no idea. Haven't seen him around in a few years.
Here are some baby pics for y'all.
Peaches and her twin bucks, just a few hours old.
Brownie and her monster doe kid. She was 8 1/2 lbs at birth.
Mercury and her twin boys, they...
