Has anyone used a Selenium and Vit E Gel for llamas, rather than BoSe. I can't get BoSe so I have always given Selenium and Vit E Gel to my goats. I find that it does work as long as you follow the directions and give it monthly. But what I'm asking is: Do you think it'd be ok to give the same...
I need to deworm my *possibly* pregnant female llama, and I don't want to take any chances, so what are the dewormers I can't use on pregnant llamas? I know that I can't use Valbazen, but is that the only one? (In case you are wondering, I do fecals and treat for the specific worms, I'm just...
To those who keep llamas as herd guardians with goats:
I provide loose goat minerals for my goats in their stalls (where the llamas can't get it), but what should I give to my llamas? I know they can't have the copper that goats can so should I put out sheep loose minerals? Is it bad if the...
How do you improve the chances of a llama being bred? Our girl has been in with male since around 4pm. They were at it for about 30 minutes but then stopped. For complicated reasons, they will be together until tomorrow evening and then separated. Do you think she will be bred?
(By the way I...
If she is thin and she has a large, firm potbelly, then she probably has a heavy worm load. Definately get her fecal tested and treat for the worms ASAP!
McKenna-
If you want easy, don't even think about using hand shears... Electric shearers are expensive but they are worth it because they are so much easier to use and save so much time.
Resa :)
x2 I prefer dam raising kids because its the natural way, it requires less work, and the babies learn how to browse, drink water, and eat other things like hay faster. AND my kids have always been extremely sweet!
It's technically just extra stuff because my goats are spoiled show babies ;) . The beet pulp is full of sugar and helps keep the weight on the goats. The herbal supplement helps with digestion and a "healthy inside". The healthy coat supplement supplies the goats with vitamins such as Vitamin E...
I don't know if it's that they are dropping weight, I think it's that when I first got them they had a plump milk belly and now they are looking thin and empty :idunno
But like I said I'm getting a fecal done as soon as possible.
They are refusing milk so I'm guessing that its not an option to keep them on bottle. :/ I worry about their weight because my other babies have always been so plump and fat :idunno
I moved them in with my other goats and they have been bonding with my milker. Now that they are calming down...
They were on a cocci prevention plan when they were younger. I'm getting a fecal done ASAP, but I just started school again and my parents work, so it will be difficult (but I'm trying hard!). Before I took them they were eating grain and hay. I am feeding them pretty much the same stuff as the...
Their temperature is normal. They were wormed the day they came to my farm. They are eating, just not very much. Do you think it could be stress? They cry for me constantly when I'm not around.
I'm going to try to get pictures because they aren't super skinny, just thinner than normal.
On the 12th I got two more Nubian doelings. They were three months old on August 3rd and 6th. They were not yet weaned from their moms, I just figured buying them would wean them. Well now that I have them, I'm realizing they are pretty thin. They're not eating much hay or grain even if they...
You can't sell goat milk without saying it is for "Animal Consumption ONLY", at least in CA. Even if it's intended for people use, you have to say that :idunno .
I let my goats have free choice loose minerals (specially formulated for dairy goats- "Sweetlix") and free choice baking soda always...
Totally! ;)
I know it makes me furious even hearing about it! BUTCHER them? I mean, really??!! You are absolutely GREAT for wanting to save them! It sounds like you are doing all that you can, and most importantly, you're doing the right thing. It is true- you can't save them all, and it IS...
