This is Withrow's Lucky Esme! I bought her today from my 4-H leader. She was Reserve Grand Champion Nubian and Reserve best udder at the California State Fair. She is such a sweetie and she's gonna make a perfect showmanship goat. So happy! :D
I was going to buy the cattle pour-on Cydectin but I saw that Jeffers carries a sheep oral drench Cydectin: http://www.jefferspet.com/cydectin-oral-sheep-drench/camid/LIV/cp/0030468/ . Which do you think is better to use on my goats?
Yes, thanks. Since they've only been off the bottle for about 20 days, they were still willing to take a bottle even though it was a bottle of water mixed with electrolytes. So I'll be doing that to keep them hydrated.
Thanks for your help. Will I need to repeat treatment after the first five days?
Also I want to deworm them, can I do that at the same time or should I wait until the coccidiosis is all gone?
It's dark brown. On the list there is a water soluble Sulmet. What I have here on hand is Sulmet in oblets (they're like tablets or pills), so can I just use that? Should I follow the packaging for dosage?
My two, 3 1/2 month old bucks have diarrhea this morning. They were not on a coccidia prevention plan and they haven't been dewormed yet, so coccidia is what I'm thinking. But they were just moved into a new pasture with new trees and forage to eat. Could that be anything?
Other than forage...
I'm really sorry that you and your goat are going through this! I think you will just need to use your best judgement and if she is in too much pain or can't function at all anymore, decide when enough is enough and when you don't want her going through it any longer. I'm not sure how you are...
I'd separate them now to be safe because at this age, the buck could get the does pregnant if he wanted to. I mean it's less likely at this age, but I wouldn't take any chances.
My llamas always lay on the ground and they stretch out to look like they're dead :P . It's perfectly normal unless you also notice symptoms that suggest otherwise
