Farrowing pens and huts. Pics please?

We had hot wire and it worked when they were smaller, but they tore it up too. Snapped the wire. Maybe we should try the rope kind instead of the wire kind. It's a solar box that pulsates. We also have one that's rated up to 10 acres that's constant, but it has to be protected from the elements...

    Farrowing sisters together?

No, we don't own the trailer. We are looking into getting one, though, for that same reason. How do we keep them from being bored? I put lots of things in there to play with, even one of those horse balls. Most of the time they just sleep in the shade and mud because it's always so hot. It's...

Farrowing pens and huts. Pics please?

We are having some trouble. Whenever we try to separate our pigs, they bust out to be back with the other pigs. And they have destroyed every shelter we have built for them. We need ideas or advice. We normally only use the credit card for emergencies, but we've already spent so much money on...

    Farrowing sisters together?

Thank you very much farmerjan. The first one bred looks pretty round and yesterday I noticed that she looked like she might be bagging up a bit. Her vulva also looks a bit swollen. I actually saw her being bred, the other one I didn't but I do know she was in heat roughly about a week after the...

    Farrowing sisters together?

Ok, thank you. When should we be able tell they are for sure prego? One looks kinda round, the other not so much. I'll try to get a pic later on. We assume they are because we saw them mating and haven't observed them going back into heat again since.

    Farrowing sisters together?

All three of them are in a pen 100x50 ft. Would it be ok to just separate the boar if they have that much space or is building farrowing pens a better option?

    Farrowing sisters together?

We have two gilts that were bred within a week of each other. They are due (if prego) on the 22 and 24 of this month. Can they be farrowed together? It is very difficult to separate them and they don't like it at all. I think they are yorksire/hampshire crosses. And we most definitely need to...

    Chicken feed

We put this welded wire fence around the feeder. We feed flock raiser because we also have turkeys and ducks. The chicken have oyster shell for calcium. The welded wire's holes are big enough for all the birds' heads, but not the goats.

    Pretty sure they're pregnant.

They were bred about a week apart from each other. The first one June 30th.

    Pictures!

Just wanted to share pictures of my goats. This comet. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old and she's just a lover. And a pet. She was on a chain because she kept escaping. We have since reinforced the enclosure and she's no longer chained. This is our new goat. His name is Captain. He's...

    Pretty sure they're pregnant.

They haven't shown any signs of heat since the matings well over a month ago. They're due in late October. Anyway, they both look fatter to me. I always read that they didn't get fat. I'll try to get a picture later today after work.

We just ordered a dozen biopsy punches. We're going to take a sample and fry it up to test for taint. If he's taint free, we're going to go ahead and slaughter him.

From what I've read, it's secreted in the urine, not the feces. I read an article written by a guy doing his own study on his own pigs by slaughtering them at different ages and under different circumstances. So far he's come up with boars not producing any taint up the 250bl mark. (That's how...
