I feel it's up to the person doing the bottle feeding. I know Rolls Farm bottle feeds all their babies, whew, but I prefer to let the mothers do the work! Bottle kids are fun but only when I have to.... In my own humble opinion I think they are friendly enough with handling when on the mother...
All the babies are doing well :) One of the Nigerian kids will be leaving tuesday for his new home as a bottle baby.
fortheloveofgoats, I also raise Boers and do recommend them for meat goats but I also don't have any experience with any other meat breed.
Maybe go visit unannounced? Just to see the goats? I've heard of "breeders" selling a goat a couple of times (for the deposit) and then getting rid of it.
LOL, do you have does bred? If so you'll have babies soon enough!!
Here are a few pics of the new kids!
This first boy is very adventuresome :D
This little guy is a momma's boy :)
Those are adorable names :) But I won't be naming them, their new owners can name them. If I named them I'll want to keep them! LOL
Their daddy was a Nigerian, one of you asked but I forgot to quote it... sorry, lol
Are you talking about the black head on Beretta or the new boys? Beretta's dad has a black head so that's where she got it, as for as the new boys, their father was black. It's hard to tell sometimes what colors you'll end up with! I'm okay with them being boys, they are going to be sold...
Huge surprise this morning! Bonnie, our Nigerian Dwarf/Boer mix doe, decided to kid last night :th I checked them all before bed so she must have waiting for me to leave before pushing.... :smack
Two boys!
Sophia and Beretta, looking at their new stall mates.
ETA: Bonnie wasn't...
The brown headed kid is Skeet, who's mother is Ruger. If you go back in my journal a little bit you'll see more pictures of her. She's two months old now. Adorable and sweet temperament :love
Just a quick update! Everyone is doing great and the new doeling is now named Beretta!
She is very hard to take pictures of with the black head and all but it's been really dark outside too so that hasn't helped any!
She's alert and snuggled in the hay under the heat lamp, it was about 25*F last night. Only supposed to hit around 30 or so today... cold for a newborn! Sophia looks good but slightly tired I think :hugs They'll have a nice quiet day today, mostly doing this :pop
Thanks everyone! I was really hoping for more kids from her but this one is a beauty so I won't complain  Might just keep her ;) But not totally sure yet :hu
KSJ0225, She came from a crooked creek farm in Maine.
Yes, looks like we're getting a pup from this litter! :celebrate Not sure which one yet but we're going up there on Sunday to pick one! :pop Should be fun!
Sophia might kid today! Keeping a close eye on her :hu
