Jersey's are kind of small, you may be over feeding them. I'd cut the amount down and feed more often. My calf this year I start w/ 4 bottles a day, but 3 would probably be enough. My calves are beef calves and bigger then a jersey, so I'm not really sure about the amount, but my calves get 4...
What I would have done is put the four together for a week or so til everyone is use to each other, then separate the two bucks and leave the two does together.
How old are they? Do they see you as a herd member? You could try pretending you are eating it! When I had some kids get sick and have to have hay for the first time I had to put an older goat in w/ them to show them it was ok to eat it.
Sounds like you're on the right track! Generally when get it, they get it! They just have to figure out where that good stuff comes from! Some take right to it, and some take alittle more work. Still waiting on pics!
I prefer polled, but even with polled we get a horned calf now and then. Unless they are homozygous polled, I think we (not me personally sadly, but my dad and mom) have some homozygous polled cow's, but so far no such luck w/ the bulls. We've always used polled bulls til last year, figures it...
I don't think he should be mean as long as he is castrated, I think the meanness is generally just the bulls. W/ my last calf I used a medium mini sized halter, nylon, I haven't put a halter on my current calf, but think she would fit the same one. You can (and should) start feeding him calf...
Was he on the cow before?
He should be getting calf starter, I'm wondering about your vet to! I think my bottle baby is 8 weeks old now and she's been getting calf starter all along.
Pictures would be great! But you need to title this "Dixie had a filly" a colt's a boy! I bet she's cute! I've got a mini filly born 3/11, I'm waiting on another one (actually hoping for a colt this time).
Ok, I'll play, sorry I'm late. I love threads like this, everyone's horses are beautiful!
This is my horse Gypsy, she's awsome! Atleast I think so! Not really sure what else to say about her, she's a Paint, and a mare, obviously.
These two are the most recent, taken during her first bath of...
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I haven't been by here in awhile, here is a site w/ a breeder that breeds colored thoroughbreds, these are dual registered w/ APHA.

I'm not sure I still have it, I think it was wiped off the computer last time it needed some repairs. But the pic that came to mind for me was one I have of my calf Panda riding in my vehicle w/ her head hanging out the window next to my great dane.
Actually there are different types of Overo, I don't know that it is recessive or dominate, but only one parent has to have it for a foal to get it (in fact if both parents past on the frame overo gene the foal dies). On the other hand two completely solid horses can throw a wild colored pinto...
Ok, I know that probably sounds like a really stupid question, but I want to know!
When I got Hilda I chose a female in case I might deside I wanted to raise some piglets. After getting her I read alittle more about breeding and it didn't sound as easy as I had in mind, plus it sounded like...
If it was me the first thing I would do is get him gelded. Young horses are just not selling these days, and this time of year is also not good because it will be getting cold soon and people just don't buy as well in the winter.
If you can afford hay for them I would get him gelded and as soon...
Yes, I think she's growing pretty good! I worried about that alot, but I really think she's doing well!
So today Panda was being a butt to her, I hope this isn't a step back, she met me at the gate calling to me. Panda's udder seemed kind of tight and she was being mean to the baby, so I tied...
It's hard to see where we were, it's not really the pasture, it's the huge rocky hill, the woods, and all the ant hills I have to go through to get there. But I made it! And I even made it back. Although if I'd been wearing shoes I may have gone on around instead of back the way I came, going...
