Rosie's getting some company this weekend! I picked out two bottle baby Nubian doelings. They are pretty much the cutest things ever. I seriously can't wait to pick them up!
Finchley and her kits are still doing really well. It's been pretty chilly for the last few days so we have then in a little cage in the garage with a heat lamp over them. We lost a lot of kits this winter (we had three whole litters including Pev's that didn't make it) so we want to give these...
Well, this didn't go the way I had hoped. Both of my girls had two kits each. Finchley, the black one who didn't pull much fur still has both of hers. They are black just like her. Pevensie, the white and black one lost both of hers before I found them. It looks like she had them in the box, but...
My first litter of mini lops is due tonight! My girls have been working hard for a couple days to make nice, warm nests. There was a mountain of white fur in one box when I woke up this morning, but no babies. I think it's going to happen soon, though! :D
Here are some pictures of the parents...
Have you been able to feel any babies? If you flip her onto her back (she may or may not cooperate with that, just be gentle but persistent) you can sometimes feel little marble-like things on her tummy. Did you monitor her weight? We like to weigh them the day we breed and then again every...
Thank you, everyone. I started working on a kit last week. I still have a couple more things I'd like to put in it, but I've got a good start. My parents have been pretty firm about not wanting a goat-- baby or otherwise-- in the house. Maybe I can talk them into the basement... lol
Just about...
Update on Rosie: Ohio has been predictably unpredictable lately. After enjoying 70+ degree weather for half the "winter" we are now experiencing winter with a vengeance a week before spring. Joy. Anyway, every time there is a cold snap, Rosie spends a lot of time in the barn. I'm not sure what...
Cute picture! Our dog loved the chicks last year when they were small. But now they just get on her nerves! She chases them around barking at them. Just like siblings...
I'm sure all of my questions could be answered by surfing through the other threads on this site more deeply, but I'm pretty new around here and still feeling my way around.
Anyway, my Rosie-girl (two year old Alpine) is pregnant! Her due date is April 17th, and as the time is getting closer...
Pictured first is Sloopy our Mini Rex buck. We also have two mini rex does. In the bottom picture are my two mini lop does. I also have a Holland lop buck that I just bred to them for the first time a few weeks ago, looking forward to seeing how cute those turn out! The majority of our rabbits...
