I knew Perry sounded familiar....we showed our Piedmontese cattle there in 2001. We had grand champion female....awesome fairgrounds and really great people. Hayladee
Hi from Pa, we have a small cow/calf operation too. Some of our commercial cows are limmy crosses. I'm new here too but I think its great. glad youre here! Hayladee
Hi all, I'm new here and am known as the Hayladee around here. I live and work on a small beef cow/calf farm in Pa. We farm about 250 acres, mostly rented ground. the home farm is mainly pastured for the cows. We raise fullblood Piedmontese cattle and use fullblood bulls on the crossbred...
He is adorable, my daughter had a pied/hereford heifer calf born about 3am this morning, its a heifer and it has hereford coloring. If I could figure out how to post pictures I'd try to get one. It would be interesting to watch these two babies grow. Daughter's hubby is a hereford fan which...
Havent had much experience with bucket raising calves. Any calf that has been able to nurse its mom will resist any other food source. All ours run with momma for 5-6 months. I just came in from my daughters place, she got me out of bed at 2am cause she had a first timer starting to calve...

Heifer calves are high here in Pa too, at least the good ones that arent twins to bulls. Here they state right as the calf is being sold if its a single or a twin to a bull. I've seen week old holstein heifer calves sell for 5-6.00 a pound.....that was a few years ago, hard to believe...
If I'd have been caught riding one of our milk cows I'd have gotten skun alive! those ladies were treated like royalty....we werent even allowed to make then run when we brought them in...dad said they lose their milk if they have to exert themselves.
Wow, I grew up on a dairy farm and milked cows and raised calves for the first 17 years of my life and I wouldnt have believed anyone who said they had a show jumping milking holstein....LOL! Man, you are never too old to learn are you, I sure do appreciate the lesson and the picture. Hayladee
