    Back for BYH. :)

I looked him over pretty closely and I couldn’t seen anything wrong. I’ll check again this evening.
  2. campingshaws

    Back for BYH. :)

No real change. Some days he puts more weight on his foot than others. It just hovers right above the ground. Just waiting on the results now.

Bad news. :( Goliath (#2, brown ears) has a slight breathy growl and lameness in his back legs. I was not diligent in getting Gertrude’s biosecurity panel back in time, and it seems pretty likely that Goliath is showing signs of CAE. I’m going to pull the kids and send the sample for testing...

These goofballs. :love Goliath, Greta, and Gable. They’ll be three weeks on Sunday. They are snuggly and rambunctious, and excellent camp ambassadors.

That’s #1, Gable. He’s my bratty boy. :love

We were in a rain band yesterday, and caught in another one today. This was in the truck waiting for it to slack up.

We’re all fine. Never lost power. About half of the staff stayed and we had board games and cards, then watched a movie. Everyone is dry and fed, so I’m taking a nap!

    Back for BYH. :)

There’s meat smoking on the porch, cards inside, and hammocks all over. Mine is inside but I’m considering moving it out.

Thanks! We’ve got our bread and milk, so we’ll be fine. ;) DH actually set up his smoker at the dining hall, and we’re having a little party. The highest winds are overnight.

Gertrude has some thick discharge today. It’s pink/purple and looks like pie filling. There are globs of it all over the barn, and crusted on her tail. She had oxtytetracycline at 4mls daily for five days, which ended Thursday. She has not had discharge until now, and I can’t find any info on...

Babies! I’ve got them all on bottles now to supplement. #1 (gray ears) took to it immediately. #2 (brown head) took much more convincing. #3 (white doe) was slower than #1 but faster than #2. Unfortunately I have to give Gertrude painful antibiotic shots, and I was worried that one side...

Morning all. Thanks for the kind words yesterday. It was raw for a minute but then I was ok. Right before we tubed the second time I asked Sally if it was better to let him pass instead of keeping sticking him. She said to fight for him, so I did, even though he had already given up. He died...

    Back for BYH. :)

He didn’t make it. Sometimes they just don’t. I know I did everything I could. I’ll be watching the other three closely.

Temp was up to 103, but is now just under 101. Has been dropping for a few hours. :(

As happens in farm life, I’m on the verge of losing #4. I found him weak and hunched over. I gave a shot of b, drench, cmpk, two syringes of milk, and three of Karo water. He’s absolutely limp. And it’s hot. They’re all panting. I have them all drench and a syringe of Karo water. I need...

Three bucks and a doe! The doe (third) was just a tail and a hock. I called Sally Sunshine (if y’all know her) and she talked me through turning the kid. I could only get back hooves but I got her out with no trouble. Even thought the heat index is 104, they all started getting chilled. My...
