Your girls are very cute! Good to see some others. If you haven't found it already, i would suggest looking up the Camelid Dynamics website. There is more information there than you could ever need, but it is not really a social group, just for information.

To Buy or Not to Buy - A Livestock Guardian Dog

I don't feed my dogs raw meat, I cook it first, but a dog is supposed to eat 2% of their body weight in food every day. I feed my dogs Merrick kibble and supplement with cooked down chicken bones and whatever we don't eat off the whole chicken. First I make broth with the chicken carcass and...

To Buy or Not to Buy - A Livestock Guardian Dog

I consider a LGD breed like Maremma sheepdog or Kommondor, but the cost to feed a few 100 lb dogs adds up. Everyone needs to look out for their own family and do what they think is best. My family is staying home as much as humanly possible and we wear...

    Fist Livestock on our Homestead

We let the GSD, Seamus, out into the paddock with Lighting and didn't put his leash on and they had a great time together. We are hoping Seamus will be our ambassador and help lightning to not be so timid. I think if Seamus were still a puppy this would not have gone the same!

    Fist Livestock on our Homestead

Hello, As the title suggests my wife and I just adopted our first livestock animal, a five year old alpaca named Lightning. He came from a home that could no longer take care of him. For the last year and a half I had been visiting and helping with his care when I could, but the opportunity...
