    My babes have arrived!

They arrived technically just before Christmas but we are so in love!! :D They are getting smarter when we go in to catch and cuddle them and scatter as fast as their little legs can carry them, but I'm bent on making two girls my best friend haha! That flashy red lamb is from my one California...

    Beating the Heat

What are ya'll doing to beat this heat wave? Seems to have come early. Got our fans up, every now and then will put a wee bit of ice in the water. Best of luck to all you guys! This week will be triple digits the next 2 weeks. Possibly longer.

    Hermaphrodite?

We had one like this, harvested her/him at harvest age....she too humped everything until she was processed. I'm not sure if this is always the "rule" but I read the likelihood of it happening was when the ewe had triplets, two rams and a ewe-the testosterone flush could cause this. I've only...

    Tiny little Hereford

Oh I appreciate your feedback very much-I didn't take anything you said as critical! We raised her the same as we have with our Angus cross bottle calves (Alfalfa hay, corn and oats), and her size has me stumped which was why I reached out. I've never seen this before. We have not wormed her...

    Tiny little Hereford

This was yesterday after I gave her a bath. You can see her size based on my fence. She is so tiny. It's been an extra muddy year this year, and gave me a hug as I was brushing the manure off of her.

    Tiny little Hereford

We have raised probably 20 bottle calves over the years and have never had a Hereford, but we purchased a sweet little calf last Spring and I'm in love. We named her Annie, however, feeding her like we have always done our bottle calves-she is TINY for being a year old in two weeks.....I'm...

    Milk sheep?

I can't quite answer this question YET, but I sold all my 4H sheep and purchased the Tunis breed. Suposedly, they are a meat, wool, and milk sheep. I can't quite answer yet, because we have all new stock this year so I havn't actually miked them yet. But I have heard from others that their...

    Contagious Diarrhea in Adult Sheep?

I give free ACV in a bucket for mine to drink as a worm preventative, I doubt a little would hurt them. :)

    Sheep Is Paralyzed

I half wonder if it is a worm load, you may consider giving him a stronger wormer like Valbazen or Cydectin? Curious what his jaw looks like? Is it swollen underneath? Also curious his FAMACHA Score? There are photos on the web you can use to number him? So so so sorry! My heart aches for you...

    Tapeworms/Why not treat?

Hello!! So my new sheep we brought in have been in quarantine the last week, I noticed yesterday they have tapeworm segments in their feces. Came to the web to see which wormer was the best for this and saw that there is quite the debate on whether to treat or not to treat? I'm happy allowing...

    Is my dog pregnant?

Gestation for dogs is 63 days, I would assume if she was pregnant she could be filling-out, but if she is in fact close, you would be able to see movement, or if you are careful you can palpate to see if you feel movement. It would be far more intentional than a gas bubble. I would look for...

    Coccidia :(

They are actually currently in their no egg production days, so I might have to think seriously about this!! I might head over to the feed store to see what they offer for chickens and give it a go. Thanks for the thoughts!

    Coccidia :(

I am fairly certain mine got sick because my chickens and turkeys free ranged our property, would seek out our barn to eat the creep feed offered to the lambs, and crap all over their food. Since my lambs got sick, the chickens can't free roam until I can figure out how to keep them out of the barn.
