Nice comments on milkers, needless to say, I am a little partial to the Henry Milker for milking goats, especially the kickers or dancers, goats with small teats or just bad behavior during milking time. I have seven goats and use the vacuum goat milking machine on all of my does because my...
Just for the fun of it, Goats and their stories...
I am looking for funny stories or curious events that have happened to you or your goat while milking, it would really be great if included the Henry Goat Milking Machine. We have just launched our very first, very modest comic strip and are...
My heart goes out to you, it is one of the toughest things I do every fall, to dry out my does.
Ohiofarmgirl, the doe in my photo to the left is Millie also
If you are looking for a good laugh about the trials and tribulations of miling that tough doe, please take a moment to read this very funny "true" story from a goat farmer on an Itty bitty farm.

It sounds like you have a very nice doe. I would not let even one once of that milk get away. Let the kid have all it can drink then take the rest for yourself. Your doe will probably drink all you give her but it is not healthy, she will not be able to digest the milk the way her baby can...
All I can say is good for you! Milk that Angus cow and enjoy every drop of milk. I am sure you have heard enough already to know that the milk produced by your beef cow is just as good (+or-butterfat content) milk as from a dairy cow.:)
I like it best when it's really cold, almost with little ice crystals. Warm-Goaty tasting milk is just not what I really like but.... my puppies and chickens don't know the difference.
Ok....... I thought I could make a buck or two selling the Henry Milker but now I have a new idea....I'll be offering "Goat Medical Insurance". I have never seen such a list of medications/ointments and concoctions in my whole life.
This is the most argued point in Dairy Goat production. I have been raising goats since I was a kid myself, about 50 years now. I have seen neighbors fight and fuss over the proper method of drying out their doe, vets quote their animal bible and old timers swear one way or another. On issues of...
I guess that is the real reason why I keep goats, you never know what they're going to get themselves into. I am down to 7 total now and someone is into something else everyday. The wind was blowing hard in Palmer Alaska the past few days and generally speaking, most of my animals try to find...
Your experience is very sound support for the absolute need for a complete diet needed for dairy goats. I hope you can get back to the sweet, delicious tasting milk you know your goats can produce. Milking goats is much more fun when you can look forward to quality milk. Keep after it, it's in...
Dear Freemotion....you have made my day and have relieved me greatly knowing that I am providing a "warmer" place for my goats. My Alpine buck is a real hay waster and he pretty much lives on layers, the top always clean and dry. I'll continue to clean 4 times/year and for the rest of the year I...
We milk 4 goats daily and use quart jars, wide mouth, they fit perfectly on our milker. If you are unable to find 1/2 gallon or gallon jars at your local grocery or department store, there are many online vendors from which you can order. You will be able to find a whole variety of sources by...
