She is the same size as my 2 yr old toggenburg doe. She definitely needs fattenng up. She didn't look to bad until I trimmed her. Of course mine looked ok to me until I trimmed them to and then I realized they are a bit on the chunky side. Fur hides a lot
I was thinking of...
Ok long story.
I went to the local auction and did a bad thing. I bought a doe in milk. She was cute, friendly, looked healthy and well she matched my other goats. I have 3 registered Toggenburg does and a registered Togg buck. Soon (about $50 away) 2 Oberhasli doelings. All my does have...
Topic says it all. Can either be used and if so what is the dosage? I saw long skinny white worms in their poop. Tapeworms? If neither can be used what is a cheap one that I can go buy. Spent the majority of my money black friday shopping. Thanks!
well I clicked on this post to read since I thought it was my situation but not quite. Hopefully no one gets upset if I ask mine.
I have a doe that was born may 2010. She has never been bred and I was thinking that for her first breeding, since I have no experience either that I would breed...
Huh, tell that to my goats. The only way I can contain the new ones is chain link. Trimmed around the pasture to make sure it wasn't grounding out. They new 3 yr old still trys to charge through it. The 2 younger does will stay if she stays but she won't stay. Thinking of sending just her...
That is it exactly. She touches with her nose and then charges through it. My fianc actually suggested we add one or two more lines. Ours are 8" 16" 26" and 38". Definitely adding one between the top 2 and possibly another between the bottom two.
Just really irks me because everything I ever...
I just picked up 3 new togenburg does. Mommy, her 2 yr old and her almost 1yr old. They have no respect for my fence. I put them in the chainlink lot last night since it was dark and I didn't want to try and deal with them and my 2 wethers in the dark. My wethers are out in my 7 acre pasture...
lol. I showed this to my fiance. Said "Can we have a house goat honey?" Not sure what his response was since it was muttered walking away. lol. Since I didn't hear him say no, does that mean I can take it to mean he said yes?
Although I probably shouldn't push my luck today. I told him...
I want to start breeding Oberhaslis. I love the breed and now that my new 7 acre pasture is finally up and running I can't find a single one for sale. I have 2 alpine wethers right now.
The only thing I have seen is oberhasli (alpine) on craigslist and the way its phrased makes it seem like...
Ok, I see it all over the place and I just want to understand.
I see square bales being stored inside but I am constantly seeing round bales just sitting out in the field until they are used, or stored outside until use. Why can round bales be stored outside? Is it just for cow hay? I am...
I am glad to see this posted. It gives me even more perspective.
When I was a teenager my best friend had horses. Her and her mom were barrel racers. I asked once to ride and was promptly told no. They said it was because of insurance but being the teenager I was I was insulted. I tried not to...
Ok not sure if this is the right area but here goes. If you have one piglet, girl by the way, and you hand raise her and she follows you around the yard for treats and such. Is it possible to have a nice well behaved adult piggy or at some point is she going to turn on me? I got her at...
On the vacuum sealer. I have used a few different brands and the one I finally settled on is the seal-a-meal. The bags are nice and thick to prevent freezer burn and tearing. They come in different widths and its a roll so you can create the length you need. It also has an attachment for...
I don't know to much about goat problems and I don't know if this is it. I have been watching this post for awhile now. I just happened to think of this old book I have had for years. 1984 yearbook of agriculture animal health. I looked in it and under abscesses is this is listed as the most...
I cant say whether or not it will get better, but I have one of those. No its definitely not nice to pass on to other people. I got mine for free from a 4h breeder. He knew it was going to be a pet for kids and never even told me. My children are not allowed to stick their hands in the cage...
We got it out. I held her and my fiance cut the metal ring. She was actually amazingly calm. Until I get her permanent home set up I carry her outside in the morning and back in at night so she is getting used to being held. Although she is starting to get a bit heavy.
No everyone that showed up wanted a girl. There were a few that were interested in the boys but they never showed to get them. I hate selling on craigslist. Drives me nuts.
