Older. Here is a pic of her last lambing season about a week before lambing and then the smaller pic of her is when she hadn't started showing about 2 months before lambing but also in winter.
I know there isn't a way to know by looking but I noticed my sheep look a little fluffy here lately. Now I'm wondering if my ram lamb got them pregnant before he died. I had planned to separate him at 4 months and he died just a week before that. After I noticed my girls look big I googled and...
I didn't think about that aspect of it. I have such a small amount of sheep that the ones we keep have sort of become working pets if that makes sense. I'm not apposed to selling her though. Because we are so small I also have to be choosie about what we keep. I had planned to get rid of her...
I meant tovget back on and update but it has been a little hectic. Sadly I lost the ram but everyone else is doing great. I ended up getting prohibit as suggested. I usually use a natural wormer and it works really well. I have one prone to overload and I have to give her overload doses all of...
I don't know if there is anything else I can do. My ram was acting lethargic and when I checked his eyelids they were white. I treated him and the rest with ivermectin and corrid incase it could be coccidia because him and his sisters stools are lose. His sister is showing signs of being...
It seems to be clearing up now. Thought I would mention that when these lumps started they were fairly big and I started giving her oregano pills in case it was mastitis. Oregano has been known to be as effective as antibiotics. They were going away but I stopped giving the pills to her because...
My ewe and her babies had orf 4 weeks ago. The babies are all cleared up but the momma still has a few bumps on her udder. Does this look like orf or something else? The one bump is pea sized and the others look like two tiny bumps.
Thanks. I have been putting iodine on it and applying with a glove.
Thanks for the response! I think they are still getting enough. She doesn't seem to be bothered when they nurse. I usually drink the milk unpasteurized for the health benefits but might heat it up just in case for now.
Her milk looked normal. I will have to get a test card. I don't know what it would be otherwise but it doesn't look like what I have seen when I google mastitis. I am wondering if I can get milk from my other ewe? Her and her lamb never showed any signs of orf and it looks like the crusty stuff...
Oh great. Now I'm guessing the ewe has mastitis? I am feeling hard pea sized bumps in her sack and there are a couple puss filled bumps on her teat. Does this sound like mastitis?
Yikes! I could see it being fairly easy for me to get because I handle them a whole lot and they are constantly in my space. They are literally in our front and back yard because that's the only land we have 😂. So far so good though so I'm hoping I don't end up with anything.
Thanks for responding. I'm thinking I must have a not as bad strain because there are hardly any scabs on their mouth. I'm actually surprised I caught it because the little boogers are always skipping and hopping around. They are hard to get a close look at.
Thanks for the response. I am so bummed about the milk 😩. We milk share with the lambs and I waited till they were a bit older to separate over night for my milk in the morning. I finally was able to get some milk (which is really good I have to say) and now I'm back to no milk again. Hopefully...
Thanks so much for the book recommendation and the mineral suggestion. I will definitely being looking into both of those. I am thinking we will just have to ride it out. We are just a Very small homestead and have bonded with our ewes so it would be too hard to give them up. Maybe that mineral...
I noticed this on my lambs and thought maybe orf? I can't tell if it's on the ewes teat or not. If it is on her teat I'm assuming I can't milk her? Can I milk the one who doesn't have any signs of it or is that not a good idea? I'm so bummed. We have company coming today and the kids were...
