Well after all the trials just getting my two does to have a litter my older doe Mary had 5, one dead in the box. Well I am in Alabama and while we didn't take any damage last night there was alot of lightning and thunder. This morning one of her 4 was cold/stiff in the corner with no sign of...
ok i am starting to look at the size and growth of my kits to find a sutable female and male to keep. how is the best way to identify the little buggers that will last for a few weeks?
is permanent marker on the ear and numbering each good? then i can keep stats and make a selection kinda...
Amazing how fast they grow. Two weeks old with fur and eyes open. Awesome watching them crawl around. One managed to crawl out of the nest and fell into the bowl that mama gets treats in and plays with.
:P so cute. He was practicing for when he grows up. :D
Seems everything went fine. I was really worries since the lightning was amazing. Still no litter for my second doe. Today was day 31 for her, Lucy was the morning of 31.
She is getting big like a melon right now.
I don't want to disturb them to much so I just peeked and counted. Seems 8 as I can tell, all squiggling well. Here is pic
I am worried right now. Tonight/tomorrow should be my second does litter and we just got through a huge lightning/rain storm. It isn't over yet either. Will she be ok...

well my youngest doe Lucy had her litter today it seems. she began pulling fur this morning and by lunch she was done. i went and checked and the mound of fur in the nest was wriggling. i will investigate the nest this afternoon and report back with count/size/pictures. i am so happy. i...
well this morning i went outside and saw some fur floating in the wind so i went to the rabbit cages and she was plucking herself bald(lucy) and i decided to bring the dog inside to keep it quiet.
about noon i went out and she was laying there....the nest was stuffed with fur and the fur was...
Well my rabbits have both got there nest boxes in now and it is a waiting game. If they follow through with the same pattern as the last time then I am expecting day 33 to be the target days...Monday for my first doe Lucy and next Friday for Mary.
One question. I understand that I should give...
for me i use a pair of heavy duty snips <not sure what they are called, i got them at harbor freight and can cut sheet metal> that allows me to skin and make most cuts...then i got a small pair of all steal prunning shears to cut through bone.
it makes it simple for me...i just followed what...
i just sat there amazed at how easy it looked for him...i always have trouble around the spine/hips area since i am new to doing any butchering (other than fish)
yeah i followed the storeys guide the first time....they both got pregnant but i only had 3 dead kits from 2 bunnies...doubt it was the breeding style that was the problem....but after doing more reading online i see that it may be 1 hour later is better....either way seems good to me.
i got my rabbits from a local breeder who mainly does show bunnies and some meat <culls>. i paid 40/ doe and 30 per buck. according to my research that seemed about average. i actually have 2 breeders in town/nearby and they charge the same almost.
as for my lathe house /shed i will post...
so today is a somewhat coola nd dreary rainy day....but the rabbit hutch/shed has a good enough overhang that i can work there and me or them wont get wet...great design so far.
ok i bred Mary with Buck at 10:09 and he did his business 3 times then he seemed too tired to do more than nuzzle...
in my experiences the meat turns grey/white almost exactly the same as chicken cooks.
to me it sounds that yours is undercooked....but i dont know for sure.
