I have a young pair of Kikos available in MI, back problems prevent my keeping them. They are 6 mos old, very well grown out from a top performing herd in Illinois. If it wasnt the health problems they'd be staying. PM me for prices and my location. Both are registered purebreds and the papers...
I am picking up my pair of Kiko youngsters in April, about 3 weeks from today. Born on Adams Kiko Ranch in Ill, about 50 miles north and east of St Louis. Craig Adams has been quite involved in Buck testing and has had a lot of bucks bred by them score high in the tests. Both were born in Jan...
They are listed, and are used in that capacity just as something that they do along with herding I took a pair of English Shepherds to Samaria, Israel and trained them with sheep, both take an active part in guarding the sheep.
There is a pretty wide overlap between sheep and goats, each has breeds that can do what the other is best known for, for your small acreage I'd look at the mini goats, or Icelandic Sheep which are also small, but do need to be sheared. Is the fence barbed wire or sheep type? At 4' its short for...
She is a beauty !!!
The Connemara is one of my very favorite breeds, an absolutely great trail horse/pony. The only others as nice(to me) are the Icelandic and a well bred saddle mule.
I would love to find a Connemara filly, or mare.
I think that all goats should be tether trained. I keep youngsters penned, and tether them at feeding time to keep the hogs from pushing out a shyer eater. Also, tethering makes lead rope training much quicker.
I use the blue and white woven rope sold in tack as lead ropes, about a 5-6' length...
I will check that out.

I have no experience with the Kinder goat breed, havent seen a live one yet. When you said Kinder before I thought that you were referring to kids, I know people who refer to their kid goats as kinder.
For my purposes I want a big, tall and long bodied goat, to carry a pack. A rule of thumb...
Comparing temperaments, Jersey bulls are some of the most dangerous bovines that exist. Very high libidos, and always on the prod. Highland bulls otoh are some of the nicest bulls to be and have around. I have had a few and never had a moments problem with either sex. The Jersey cow is one of...
Hi Mary
What breed of goats are you getting? Hard to believe there arnt goats closer, I know there are many in NYS.
Very few trail pack goats on purpose, they do best if they can sort out their own trail order, so folks pick who the leader is, and halter him and teach him to trail that way...
Great to see you here ! I am getting a steer in Oct, I am very impressed with your cows riding. I have seen your website. Until then the only riding Longhorns I knew of were Darols down in Ohio. His granddaughter Kara I think will be riding soon.
You are off to a great start with them, have fun with two males there when she starts coming into heats.
I love the Anatolians, so far havent found any. But hoping. May have to go with a Pyr.
For packing while hiking, 2 make a weekend camping much better, they carry so I dont have to as much. And they are fun to have around. Long range is breeding a strain that is bigger and can carry more.
Too long in replying, but......
My main interest is packing, although health issues curtailed it, I am now starting over, from sctach, but, in one way it will work as I can now focus on what I really want to do, breeding pack goats.
There is an excellent pack goat monthly put out by my...

Just google Goat Tracks and that will give you the link to the newsletter. There also several good books for those...
